One of the best places I've ever stayed in! Fantastic location. Comfortable, nice rooms/houses. Owners/hosts extremely nice and hospitable. A very good breakfast - the homemade skyr was worth the whole trip to Iceland, unbelievably delicious!

The accommodation was located along the ring road and was easily accessible via a side road. Upon arrival we were welcomed by the host (Ragnar) who kindly explained everything about the accommodation and what time we wanted breakfast the next morning. In addition to the information, the host also had plenty of leaflets in the accommodation with information about the neighborhood and who he was. During our stay we enjoyed the area and Ragnar's creation(s). We took an evening walk and visited the famous red chair placed on a rock along the ring road. Ragnar's goal is to make people laugh which certainly succeeded. We definitely recommend the accommodation for people traveling in the southeast and wish Ragnar good luck with his future plans to let more tourists enjoy his accommodation and creations.

Such a lovely place to stay! From the moment we arrived, we loved it. Really peaceful accommodation - perfect for those who prefer to have a quiet break away from too many people! Host was incredibly warm and welcoming and showed a genuine interest in us as guests. I only spent one night at Birkifell and in all honesty it was not enough. Birkifell is 100% pure charm and comfort. The cabin is small but comfortable and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was pretty much perfect. Coffee machine with coffee, stovetop, oven and microwave, fridge/freezer, cutlery, crockery and cookware. The beds are so comfortable and warm. I slept amazingly well. And now what is truly wow. Hot tub on the verandah with clear, unobstructed views of the sky which was crystal clear. The hot tub was hot, comfortable and clean. The only sound to be heard was me. I have never experienced such quiet and stillness before. It was invigorating. I was sad to have to leave Birkifell but when I come back to Iceland, Birkifell will be my must stay again. I love everything about Birkifell.
