From the moment we arrived to when we left, the staff bent over backward to not only handle our every need but anticipate them. The room was beautiful, very quiet, well appropriated, and comfortable. We were right off the street but couldn't hear anything. We had an enjoyable evening having dinner in the Jaguar Bar with live music from Martin Winning a local saxophone player. But again, the staff and management of this hotel are top-notch. We had some special needs, which they dealt with at every turn, and they have my gratitude for the care they took. Easy to get to and easy access to Covent Garden, British Museum, Russell Square, and all the theatres. Bravo and very happy we chose to stay here.

Just perfect! It was unfortunate that the American Bar was closed for refurbishment during our stay but the Beaufort Bar proved a great alternative!

British Museum

As Great Britain’s Empire expanded, so did its cache of material treasures – many of which are on display in this world-class museum. Among its eight million exhibits, you'll find the stunning Elgin Marbles from Greece, the Benin Bronzes and the legendary Rosetta Stone. The Reading Room stands at its heart and is spectacular in size and scope.

Do not go to this museum thinking you will see everything. Even with close to four hours, we barely scratched the surface--but what you do see is incredible and that means there's always more for a future visit!

We were overwhelmed by the number of noisy visitors first thing in the morning. It was not a warm day but it was very stuffy and there was no air flow through a lot of the galleries. The information tags on some of the exhibits were poorly placed and very difficult to read unless you were right up close.

Pre-book a ticket or go on a late opening evening ( The queues can be very long). The Egyptian /Assyrian statues and monuments are spectacular ,asare the controversial Elgin marbles. For intrinsic British exhibits, Roman Britain is fascinating. The reading room is hosting an exhibition at the moment. A very interesting space set in The Great Court. Top tip _ don't try to see everything in one visit. Plan and Prioritize!! Top Tip:

Too crowded to really see the exhibits.

Too crowded to really see the exhibits. We booked a slot which I thought was to stagger the influx of people but clearly not. The British museum is world class when it's not too busy. Bring your own food and drinks ,come as early in the day as possible. Try to go to toilets outside of the museum as you could be stuck in a very long queue. There are free lockers for bags etc but again come early as these fill up very quickly, the alternative is the cloakroom which is expensive to leave coats/bags etc.

It's free, but book an entry time in advance, and be prepared to join a long queue, so arrive well before your time slot. We only had one day, so picked an area or two each. I would love to have a whole week to go every day (and book for every day). Stunning to see in reality items you're familiar with from books! Another tick off the bucket list. You can buy some food there, but there's little choice, so it might be easier to take a packed lunch. Wear easy shoes as there aren't many places to sit down. Leave some time for the bookshops -- both the serious one and the touristy one.

Spacious room in central London. Close proximity to tube stations (Russell Square & Holburn). Round the corner from the British Museum & next to a lovely park. Hotel itself was clean, staff were friendly & helpful. We had drinks from the bar which were very reasonably priced. Bedroom & bathroom very spacious.

I have stayed here before. And it is an exceptional property. This is why I have returned. It is an excellent location, a 3-minute walk to the British museum and approximately no more than 15 minutes . walk to Soho with China Town close by. There are many amenities pub's ,restaurants and many places to eat .The decor is done to a high standard. I will return again as I enjoyed my stay
