We just stayed for one night but our stay was very good and the host was very friendly! We would recommend though to use uber to move around, even if some tourist places are close, as Pretoria is not the safest.

It is a small guesthouse, a real home away from home where individual needs are taken into consideration. The individually decorated rooms already cater for different needs. Room 1 is an economic option for a single person (or two persons) who needs a cozy and safe sleepover. Room 2 provides for someone who enjoys to soak in a relaxing, romantic bubble bath. It has a big work area which can also be used for breakfast, if not taken in the garden, or on the patio. The room is spacious, has big cupboards and a personal safe. The poolroom has a private entrance and is self containing with a kitchenette, although breakfast can be provided. This room has a private TV with DSTV. The sitting- TV- and patio areas can be used as common areas, which is particularly useful for groups of up to 6 people.
My husband and I are retired and we are excited about meeting new people and being available to assist to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We know the area well and enjoy the many activities taking place in our area, from visiting local markets, attending musical events and getting to know creative businesses, also informal ones. I am currently intrigued by creating a healthy household with environmental friendly cleaning products and having simple, good food as well as exploring my roots by making typical Afrikaans dishes. The power of music for emotional wellness is particularly interesting and useful. There is a vibrant, positive culture amongst many of our youth, in spite or often less than healthy circumstances, which I greatly admire.
Our neighborhood was the center of the early development of our city, Pretoria. Our house was part of the estate of the French Ambassador, and was probably used as staff living quarters. It was later sold to the High Commision of Australia, and eventual The street name refers to the poet Thomas Merton (1915-68). Government Avenue is the only street that is planted with a double row of Jacarandas on each side of the road and was often used by Madiba, strolling down the lane and talking to residents. The Union Buildings, with its unique architecture and the statue of Madiba attracts tourists from all over the world. We boast a wide variety of embassies, excellent secondary schools, the International French school in George street, as well as Pretoria University. It is relatively close to Church Square, with the statue and house of Paul Kruger, the first president of the Zuid Afrikaansche Republiek. The Zoo (National Zoological Gardens), is 3,5 kms from our home and provides entertainment and education for young children and adults. For sport fanatics Loftus Versveld (??? kms) can be visited to see the Bulls (rugby), or Mamelodi Sundowns (soccer), or other international teams play.
