Bequia is a small island, measuring 7sqm (18 km2) with a population of approximately 5,300. The native population are primarily a mixture of African, Scottish and Kalinago descent. Fortress "J" is situated in Spring, the site of a former coconut plantation and home to agricultural animals. Nearby are Industry Bay and Park Bay, where the Old Hegg Turtle Sanctuary is located. Princess Margaret, who had a home on nearby Mustique, visited Bequia in the 1950s and had a beach renamed in her honour.

Upon your arrival, our host will be either at the harbour waiting for the ferry or at the house to welcome you. All the rooms will be available from 2pm. There is an information pack at the house with most activities, restaurants, bars and sports in the island. All useful numbers such as doctor, chemist, hospital, fire brigade will be in the info pack too. Your host will show you how to use all the appliances. If you have any queries you can always contact your host. Her number will be on the info pack.

Located just one mile from the main dock and a short taxi ride from Bequia’s airport, Fortress "J" is set in the quiet, peaceful location of Spring Valley. Spring is the most prestigious area in Bequia with easy access to the harbour and most restaurants on the island. Once you arrive in Bequia from the St Vincent ferry (Admiral or Bequia Express), you will need a taxi from the harbour. It only takes 5mins to get to Fortress J by car. To walk to the harbour from the house, it will be approximately 35mins. The closest beach is Spring and you will see it from the house. It will take approx 10-15mins walk.
