Casa na Colina has two houses The Cottage and The Long house. Each house can accommodate 2 people and these houses share the pool. Each house can be booked separately or together for 4 people. We can put single beds in one of the houses instead of the queen bed. Casa na Colina is nestled on a stunning south facing ridge on the edge of The Serra do Caldeirao overlooking the village of Alportel in the historic countryside of the Algarve. We are surrounded by a very natural landscape full of beautiful old Vineyards, Olive groves and ancient Cork Oak woods. This is what we fell in love with when we first arrived in Portugal in 2019 and bought Casa na Colina. We have carefully restored 2 derelict buildings, The Cottage and The Long House, completing most of the work ourselves, reinstating original features and adding locally handmade Santa Catarina tiles.
My husband and I moved to Portugal in 2019. We bought Casa na Colina and have been busy renovating the 2 houses over the last 4 years. We wanted it to look old and authentic but have all the modern touches we ourselves expect. We designed our houses to ensure they would be a real home away from home and have incorporated beautiful pieces of furniture and original artwork. The houses are situated on a hill so there are a few steps both inside and outside hence would not be suitable for people with mobility concerns and small children. We live on site with our 2 dogs and cat and are happy to help you organise any trips or advise you on the best places to eat.
This area is renowned for its many varied walking trails. Walks along rivers, through ancient cork oak woods and the Fonte Ferrea Park which has a lovely café and many walking trails. This area also hosts many national Mountain bike competitions and road biking is also very popular. We can put you in touch with a local bike hire company if this is something you would be interested in. We are a 5 minute drive from Sao Bras De Alportel, a beautiful old Portuguese town. Here you can find many supermarkets, banks, shops and restaurants which are much more affordable than down by the coast!
