We stayed at a lovely couple’s cottage on the top of a hill, and it was like a dream to be able to interact with a big family of alpacas. The two hosts showed incredible hospitality — before we left, they even made us promise not to wash the...

The peace and serenity was divine. Just what we needed. The view was a salve to our eyes and mind. It's the kind of spot where all you want to do is stretch, breathe and dream. Loved it.

Welcome to our little slice of bliss, with stunning views in front and beautiful native bush behind. Go the sleep at night listening to the Ruru (Morepork) and wake to the dawn chorus with a magical view looking out over the Waihi basin, right from your bed. Kauri cabin comes with a queen bed, seating, plus fridge. There is a toaster, microwave, kettle and a small gas BBQ. If you wish to use Rimu cabin as a lounge there is a comfy chair and 2 bean bags plus a queen single to lounge on. If there are two of you wanting separate sleeping cabins ask us first so we can discuss this option. Both Rimu and Kauri cabins are 10 sq metres and the bathroom is about 8 sq meters. The deck links all the cabins running the full length. As our aim is to provide a relaxing, peaceful environment we will be only one group staying at a time, if you do not wish to use the second cabin we will leave it vacant. This also gives peace of mind as there is no sharing facilities. Provided in the fee is WiFi, bed linen and towels, hair dryer, all dishes, glassware, cutlery. Cooking facilities are limited to a small BBQ and microwave however there are many wonderful eateries in the area
Neil and Joanne shifted from Auckland in January 2015 and have never looked back, finding their own little slice of paradise on the outskirts of Waihi, and now they are willing to share what they found with you. Starting with 4 alpaca their numbers have grown to a herd of around 26, almost all are adult females (Hembra) or babies (Cria (cree-ah)). The first three of their goats arrived within a month of moving in. They were just wee kids and so cute. Mandy followed about a year later. The cattle numbers go up and down depending on the time of year. We graze cattle for the neighbours so when we run out of grass in winter the cow people go home for a couple of months, leaving just a few that belong to us as pets. We enjoy the relaxed country life combined with the good food and natural beauty that is found in the local Waihi area.
Close by is the township of Waihi, a pretty wee village on the border of the Waikato and Bay of Plenty. Within a few kilometres of our farm is the beautiful Waihi Beach or numerous swimming holes in the many rivers that flow though the area. If bush walks are your thing then there are to many to name for all levels including tunnels and walks through the abandoned mining ruins.
