Arohanui ('big love' in Maori) is our Rural Retreat and B&B which we are delighted to be able to share with you. Situated in the hills over looking Tauranga city with coastal views right up to Katikati, this is a special 'slice of paradise!' Newly built and opened in late 2018, we are pleased to offer tasteful rooms furnished for your comfort. Arohanui has a garden for you to enjoy, a sheltered entertaining area, flat screen TV and free WiFi. We provide a spa pool with a magnificent view facing north and a viewing platform for you to enjoy spectacular views of the Kaimai Ranges to the west. The sunsets are hard to beat! A shared lounge to enjoy is also available. Each of the rooms has its own ensuite with toiletries supplied which are earth friendly. Also included are robes and scuffs for your convenience. Tea and coffee making facilities are available in your room and your room will be serviced by request. Breakfast is available each morning 8-8:30 and by special arrangement can be delivered to your room. Gluten-free options are available. Tauranga Airport is 12.6kms from Arohanui. It is a 20minute drive to the centre of the city in non peak hour traffic. (Non-smoking)

Welcome to Arohanui! Richard and I will be your hosts while you are staying with us. Richard comes originally from South Africa, immigrating some 25 years ago, while Diane is a Kiwi through and through. We are looking forward to meeting you. It is the reason for building on this property: to meet and enjoy the company of interesting people both from New Zealand and abroad. We are keen gardeners and enjoy eating our own fresh produce. Tauranga and the neighbouring areas of Mt Maunganui and Papamoa are the reason for moving to this area more than 20 years ago. We enjoy the mild climate, the lush growth, the beauty of the mountains and the sea. Beautiful beaches are just a short drive away. Rotorua with its world famous geo-thermal activities and Maori cultural centres are 45 mins by car. Waimarino Adventure Park, SH 1, the canoe/kayak centre based on the Wairoa river is within easy access. It also offers evening glow worm kayak tours during the summer. McLaren's Falls Park and Lake, SH29, is wonderful for picnics, bush walks and swimming in fresh water. Nearby is Marshall's Animal Park (35 acres). Adrenalin Forest Bay of Plenty offers much fun for those not too wary of heights. Check it out. (Tect All Terrain Park) Also a great spot for off-road biking as is the Redwood Park in Rotorua. For those who prefer the quieter life there are reserves to walk in, beaches to explore, swim and fish from, and Mau (Mt Maunganui) elevation 232m is both a great walk round or up and rewards with spectacular views. Tauranga itself, the Mount and other suburban locals offer a large number of fine places to eat out.
