Wijk aan Zee boasts the broadest beach on the Dutch coast and is surrounded by an extensive dune area crossed by a number of bicycle paths and walking trails. With Beverwijk (the Black Market), Ijmuiden (the harbour), Haarlem, Alkmaar (the cheese market) and even Amsterdam just around the corner, this area is ideal for day trips.
