Our guest house opened in Sengokuhara, Hakone in 1984 as a reasonable guest house primarily for foreign tourists. Since then, approximately 200,000 foreign tourists from more than 80 countries have stayed here to experience Japanese culture. We have many repeat guests, and we have been featured as a recommended inn in international travel guidebooks such as “Michelin” and “Lonely Planet”. It has also been selected as a TripAdvisor "Hall of Fame" accommodation. You can enjoy the milky white hot spring (the founder of which is Mr. Eiichi Shibusawa, whose portrait is on the new 10,000 yen bill), which comes directly from Owakudani volcano, and can be used privately by reservation. More than 20 types of minerals are said to be effective for “beauty” and “health”. The smooth hot water is gentle on your skin, and it refreshes your body and mind. There is an outdoor hot spring bath (additional charge: 500 yen for 30 minutes per person) and an indoor hot spring bath, each of which can be reserved for private use, so you can bathe with your family, friends and even people with tattoos can enjoy.
Owner Mr. Masami Takahashi expanded and renovated his home in Sengokuhara in 1984 and opened Fuji-Hakone Guest House, an inn that provides international understandings. The origin of the inn's name is “STATE GUEST HOUSE AKASAKA PALACE”. We celebrate our 40th anniversary in 2024 with the aspiration of “treating foreign tourists with the same care we would welcome state guests”. In recognition of our efforts to promote international mutual understanding and contribute to world peace through encounters, interactions, and mutual learning, we were selected to represent Japan on the OECD Tourism Committee and the 7th European Tourism Summit in 2005. Mr. Masami Takahashi was invited as a representative from Asia to give a presentation on our efforts. Furthermore, in 2008, we were awarded the “Best Practice Champion” by Cornell University in the United States, and in 2009, Mr. Masami Takahashi was appointed as “Visit Japan Ambassador” by the Japan Tourism Agency of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. Our entire family is looking forward to your visit!
It is a 1-minute walk from the nearest bus stop "No. 250/Senkyoromae". You can come from Odawara station, Hakone Yumoto station, Gora station, Hakone Open-Air Museum and Gotemba Premium Outlet by bus directly. There are express buses running directly from Haneda Airport and Shinjuku station in Tokyo as well. Free parking is also available. Lake Ashi (Togendai) is about 10 minutes by bus, and from there you can transfer to the ropeway that goes to Owakudani volcano or Hakone Sightseeing Cruise that allows you to enjoy cruising around Lake Ashi, which makes an excellent way to fully enjoy Hakone. Mt. Kintoki hiking course, where you can enjoy a spectacular view of Mt. Fuji, and the beautiful pampas grass field, which glows golden in autumn are within walking distance. The popular art museums such as Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, Pola Museum of Art, and Lalique Museum are also located within walking distance. There are restaurants and convenience stores around our guest house, which we will inform upon check in. (There are some restaurants where free shuttle service is available.) *Breakfast (Western style) is available for an additional fee if requested. The fictional city “Tokyo 3” in the popular animation “Neon Genesis Evangelion” is set in Sengokuhara, Hakone, and the pilgrimage to sacred places that appear in the story is also popular.
