El último hotel de la A9, el Ferry Inn de Scrabster, se ha reformado recientemente y ofrece preciosas vistas al mar. El puerto de Scrabster, al norte de Thurso, es la puerta de entrada a las islas Orkney. El famoso restaurante The Upperdeck, alberga un asador fantástico y también está especializado en marisco fresco de la zona. El animado Popeye's es un pub equipado con una TV de pantalla ancha donde se emiten eventos deportivos.
