Lodge was clean, comfortable, close to Bath but not in the city centre, it was the perfect place to chill out after a long day walking around Bath.

The open plan cottage is really spacious with a beautiful interior. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bed and couch very comfortable, the shower lovely. Great recycling system! Although it was 37°C outside, it was cool inside, a real haven...

Welcome to my secluded and peaceful lodge set in the heart of the Somerset countryside yet only 6 miles from Bath, a UNESCO world heritage site and 15 miles from the centre of Bristol. It lends itself perfectly for singles or couples looking for a get away or base from which to work remotely or while on work placement. You have your own parking, garden and deck, and inside all the creature comforts for a relaxing stay including super fast broadband. Your secluded lodge sits at the bottom of the spacious garden, tucked away amongst bamboos, firs and a babbling brook. It has been designed with a Scandinavian theme in mind, the aim to provide you with a space that is light, open and, I hope, stylish but comfortable and inviting. The main room has french windows that open out on to your secret garden with table and chairs for al fresco dining. This extends to a secluded decking area that overlooks a babbling brook which adds to the overall relaxing soundscape. Inside there is a huge couch, coffee table, double bed, dressing mirror and chair, place to hang clothes and a sideboard which has space for additional clothes and other bits and bobs. You have AppleTV which is also signed into Netflix and you can connect your iphone too. There is a music centre which has DAB and Bluetooth. The bed is a double, the mattress and pillows are memory foam and the duvet down and feather. The room is very well insulated but benefits from two heaters. The kitchen is equipped with a hob, oven, fridge, plenty of cupboard space and everything, we hope, you need to create and serve your masterpieces. The bathroom is cute, which means small, but a clever use of space. There is a powerful shower, toilet, heated towel rail and wash basin. PLEASE NOTE: with rising costs and to avoid increasing our prices we have stopped ironing the duvet cover. Instead we are putting on a bed spread which looks just as nice! Our hope is that it’s good for you, good for us and kinder to our planet.
Having travelled a lot for work I much prefer to stay in places that have a homely feel opposed to hotels which can be somewhat faceless and lacking in personality. In designing my own place for people to stay I have tried to to create something that is personable, comfortable and a welcoming place to come back to at the end of the day, or stay in all day! I have tenants that live in the cottage, so please bear this in mind during your stay, but I am contactable by phone and the app, should you have any questions before or during your stay, and also have key people a mile from the place should the need arise. I hope you have an enjoyable and relaxing stay, Giles
Set in a hamlet of miners cottages built around the 1800’s its historical roots are firmly set in the mining era. The area is full of charm, friendly people and surrounded by open land and small hills. It is an ideal place for taking walks, cycling and generally enjoying the fresh air. It has access to Bath (6 miles) and Bristol (15 miles to the centre) and is well positioned as a stop over to further explore the West and South West, with good connections to the main roads. Getting around It is a major advantage to have a car to stay here and is well situated to use as a base for visiting other areas of interest. We have ample off street parking and you have your own designated space. Bath is well connected with inter town buses and country stops and there is a bus stop 1 mile up the road from the property that has a regular service into Bath. Taxis to and from Bath take around 25 minutes and are reasonably priced although later night taxis should be booked in advance. The drivers are courteous and knowledgeable of the local area. Bristol airport is a taxi ride away, if you don't have your car hire already sorted, and is also connected to Bristol Temp A mile up the road are two mini supermarkets and local amenities that should cater for the majority of your needs. If you require a bigger supermarket there are three in Midsomer Norton, 4.5 miles South or a Sainsburys on the fringes of Bath. Somerset is full of interesting places to visit, artisan industries and farms producing local cheeses, beers, wines and ciders, so if good food and drink is your thing you'll be in heaven! In addition there are all the day and night time attractions that Bath and Bristol have to offer along with areas of interest such as Wells (14 miles), Frome (11 miles), Cheddar Gorge (17 miles), Glastonbury (20 miles) and Bruton (20 miles for Hauser & Wirth and The Newt). Further afield you can get to the Jurassic Coast or be on Chesil Beach in an hour and forty five.
