About this property

A 5-minute walk from Ambleside and a mile from Lake Windermere, the largest natural lake in England, this charming guest house was originally 2 separate Victorian cottages. It specialises in home-cooked food and offers free Wi-Fi and free parking on site. Haven Cottage still retains traditional old features like wooden beams and feature fireplaces. Most rooms benefit from picturesque mountain views, and all feature a TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Breakfast is provided each morning, made with Cumberland sausage or vegetarian sausage, lightly smoked dry-cured bacon, and other locally sourced ingredients. Just a stone throw away from Ambleside town centre Haven Cottage provides wonderful B&B accommodation right in the heart of the Lake District. Being a smaller B&B it has more of a home from home feel to it. With 4 bedrooms to choose ranging from smaller cosy double bedrooms to large, luxurious super king-size suites we have something for everybody's budget & tastes. Tastefully decorated in a contemporary style all bedrooms are en-suite and B&B accommodation with us includes free car-parking (which has an electric car recharging point), a fantastic home-cooked breakfast and tea/coffee, homemade bread & homemade cakes in the afternoons. Our Wi-fi is high-speed fibre so shouldn't let you down (although this is the Lakes!). We also have an on-site registered nutritionist who is available for consultations on health and wellness during your stay.

We pride ourselves on our customer service in a friendly & informative manner, being available when you need us but out of the way when you don't. The best way for you to get the most out of your holiday in Ambleside is for us to share our knowledge on the best places to visit, the best places to eat, to give you the routes & directions for your walks. This is the personal touch we believe makes the difference. With an onsite nutritionist our breakfasts have a quality reputation for good reason, we use excellent quality local ingredients and take into consideration taste and health benefits for the body where we can, examples are our 'Laid with Love' eggs from The Lake District Free Range Egg Co., nitrate free sausage from the Butchers 400 metres away and organic and Himalayan salt cured back bacon from an organic farm in Cumbria. Lighter options, Vegetarian/Vegan alternatives also feature on the breakfast menu. Our coffee is sourced from award winning Red Bank Coffee, roasted in Coniston and a great example of how we support the best local producers in the Lake District.
