Company information

Hey I'm David and really look forward to helping you have the best possible stay in Orkney. I was born and bred in Orkney and am very proud of its reputation as the best place to live in the UK. Orkney is a unique and magical group of islands…. a place where you can look forward to being spellbound by its history, invigorated by its landscapes, relaxed by its atmosphere and warmly welcomed by its people ....and I'll do whatever I can to help you enjoy the best of what Orkney has to offer.

Property information

An old fisherman’s cottage built with the help of some salvaged ships beams and masts, Harbour Cottage is one of Stromness’ original houses pre-dating any modern record keeping. Sitting on the harbour front and directly across from the Ferry Terminal and Travel Centre, it places you in the heart of the town known as The Venice of The North. With private parking directly outside, you are only a 5 minute drive from the heart of Neolithic Orkney and it’s globally renowned UNESCO World Heritage Site. Step inside Harbour Cottage and you’ll find a tastefully refurbished and unique house, with a separate kitchen/dining room leading to a sitting room with adjacent w/c and shower room downstairs. Upstairs are two double bedrooms with one overlooking the harbour front.

Neighbourhood information

Orkney will immerse you in its rich tapestry of dramatic landscapes, amazing sunsets, stunning flora and fauna all mixed in with a rich culture 5,000 years in the making. Add this to one of the richest archaeological landscapes anywhere in the world, the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site, then you know you have arrived in a place like no other. From the spectacular and iconic Ring of Brodgar, to Maeshowe – the finest Neolithic tomb in Northern Europe, or the Neolithic settlement of Skara Brae – one of the best preserved groups of prehistoric houses in Western Europe, Orkney Apartments puts on the doorstep of Neolithic Orkney. You can even visit the live dig at The Ness of Brodgar – recently featured nationally on the BBC as well as the front cover of National Geographic magazine, this 3 hectare site filled with massive stone structures containing unique and spectacular finds is without parallel in Europe. On your doorstep is Stromness with its beautiful stone piers leading from a cobbled street uncoiling like a sailors rope along the seafront, Harbour Cottage will provide you with an idyllic setting and perfect location to base your stay.
