Built in 1888, using Lakeland stone, the 4-star Glenville House combines traditional charm with modern facilities. Just 10 minutes’ walk from Bowness and 15 minute walk from Windermere Railway Station, Glenville House guest house provides easy access to local sights. The World of Beatrix Potter museum and the Windermere Steamboat Museum are less than a 15 minute walk away, as is Lake Windermere itself. The hotel can provide information on guided and unguided walks and has free on-site parking. Gentle walks and more strenuous hikes start from both Bowness and Windermere.
