Loved all the little brown labels telling you what switch did what and where to put your towels. Very useful, and not as common as you would imagine.

Great place to stay. The parking is not easy near it! And the steps down to it are steep and uneven but well worth the effort. Great little terrace at front with seating for that glass of wine

Just a five minute walk and overlooking the centre of Holmfirth, Brook Cottage is a newly refurbished stone under dwelling in an ideal location to visit cafes, shops, explore the towns unique history amongst cobbled streets and as a base for walkers. Brook Cottage does not have a washing and drying facilities but for guests staying longer than 3 nights I am more than happy to do personal laundry. Please note with the bedroom having a king-sized bed (with bed side cabinet either side) rather than a double bed, it does take up more floor space so the space either side of the bed is narrow. Please beware, as an under dwelling, Brook Cottage has neighbours above and to the side so I cannot guarantee that there will be no noise during your stay. The outside seating area is a right of way access to the neighbours so it is not 100% private. LOCATION - As it is an under dwelling, access to it is down approximately 20 very uneven and steep stone steps so people who have mobility concerns need to be aware of this - please see photos. The view from the cottage is over the town and across the Holme Valley, which means it is up a hill side therefore the walk up and down to the centre consists of more stone steps behind the church and cobbles and it is situated on a narrow lane so not on a wide flat road - quite typical of many places in Holmfirth. The road that Brook Cottage is on does not get ploughed or gritted when it snows. For health and safety it has a strict no smoking and/or vaping policy and no candles are allowed. I do not use plug in air fresheners or diffusers. There is no designated parking at the property and the road that it is on is public so can be used for free but it is very narrow in places so even though there seems to be a parking space, consideration has to be given for delivery vans and emergency vehicles to pass by. Please note the road does not get ploughed or gritted when it snows.
We enjoy travelling, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the country side, as well as live bands and festivals. We also enjoy skiing and e-bikes. I am available via mobile phone and live locally.
Holmfirth offers many restaurants with international cuisine and provides numerous bars and live music to accommodate all tastes. It also hosts various events including Festival of Folk, Food&Drink, Art Festival, Art Week, Film festival, Harden Moss Sheep Dog Trials, and the historic brass band contest. Holmfirth is the setting for the world famous TV series Last of the Summer Wine. Holmfirth is also a popular a cycling destination having previously hosted famous races Tour de France and Tour de Yorkshire. It also hosts the Yorkshire Classic Car Rally. Walkers will enjoy the beautiful countryside with hills and streams and old stone buildings and cobbles surrounding the town taking in the famous Pennine Way as well as many other walks for all abilities.
