A warm welcome awaits you at this traditional former toll cottage; offering all the warmth and charm of a bygone era. With outstanding views to the surrounding countryside and just a five minute walk from Kirkby Stephen Town Centre. This location offers both convenience and a truly relaxing and peaceful stay. The property has all the character and ambience one would expect from a period property; with beams, flagged floors and beautifully crafted bespoke features. Guests are warmly welcomed with refreshments on arrival. Served in the cosy, beamed guest lounge, complete with wood burning stove and spectacular views of the surrounding country side, including the iconic Nine Standards Rigg. A small friendly family run “Home from Home”, where each guest is individually cared for. We pride ourselves in making your stay a relaxing and enjoyable one.
We moved into the Old Toll Cottage and completely renovated it 32 years ago- adding an extension some years later to cater for my growing family. Once they had fledged the nest I was able to fulfill my dream of running a Bed and Breakfast which I truly love. I am a keen walker and cyclist myself and enjoy the amazing scenery this unique area has to offer. Really looking forward to making your stay one to remember. You will be warmly greeted with refreshments upon arrival. Everything you need for a peaceful stay.
Kirkby Stephen is a traditional Cumbrian market town, set in the beautiful Eden Valley, in close proximity to the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District Nation Park. Awarded ‘Walkers Welcome’ status with Wainright’s Coast to Coast Walk, Lady Anne’s Way and the Walney to Wear cycle route running through the town. It makes it an ideal stop off point, or as a base to enjoy the surrounding countryside. There is much to offer the outdoor enthusiast; with rich wildlife and nature on the doorstep. The town boasts many historic buildings, cobbled yards, quaint corners and interesting shops. The Nateby Road Bridle Path, which is part of the Poetry Walk, runs adjacent to Bollam Cottage and leads along the River Eden to the natural beauty spot locally known as Stenkrith Falls. This puts our B&B in a unique location, both central, and yet having all the benefits of a countryside retreat. There is a varied calendar of events with activities for all tastes throughout the season, details of which can be found on the Kirkby Stephen Website. For ideas about cycling and walking in the area try Visit Eden. Kirkby Stephen has something for everyone please come and explore- a warm welcome awaits.
