This fine townhouse was built in the late 1800s and we have restored to meet the needs the modern guest while keeping as many period features as possible. All rooms are bright and airy with high ceilings, original fireplaces and floorboards. The shaded terrace is perfect for lazy breakfasts in summer and the garden and pool are yours to enjoy. For breakfast we offer yoghurt with fruit and muesli, croissants, ham, cheese, bread ( including Sharon's home made wheaten), or scrambled eggs on toast. There are always a few home baked muffins, biscuits or scones also. Breakfast is normally served from 8.30 until about 11am. The dining room has crockery, a fridge, microwave and toaster. You are welcome to help yourself to complimentary water, fruit juice, tea or coffee at any time. Likewise you can store picnic items or some lovely local ham or cheese in the fridge.
Your hosts Declan and Sharon moved here from Ireland in 2007 for a complete lifestyle change and have not regretted a moment spend in this beautiful area. We travelled extensively before moving here and our aim is to provide clean, comfortable, reasonably priced accommodation in a relaxed friendly setting. Surely not to much to ask. We will be delighted to help you make the most of your stay by suggesting itineraries , restaurants, and activities. We have walking books (mainly in french) for you to borrow. Basically if you ask, we will do our utmost to help.
Prades is a small market town with all the necessary amenities and facilities to serve the small outlying villages. Situated pretty much in the centre of the Pyrénées Orientales, it makes an ideal base from which to explore both the mountains and the Mediterranean. Nowhere in the department is more than 50 minutes drive. Enjoying on average 300 days sun per annum , summers are mainly hot, with spring and autumn ideal for walking. After your walk, why not relax in the natural hot spring baths of St Thomas les Bains, a 40 minute drive away. The abbeys of St Micjel de Cuixa and St Martin du Canigou are close by, and you have 4 of the most beautiful villages in France within 30 minutes drive. Not forgetting the little yellow train, experience it while it is still operating. The Tuesday market in Prades is the largest in the Conflent Valley, it is definitely worth a visit.... really it depends on your length of stay what you can pack in!
