An extensive spa area, a beauty farm and a restaurant serving upmarket cuisine are offered by this 4-star Superior hotel in the best-preserved moated castle in Germany. The family-run Hotel & Spa Wasserschloss Westerburg lies in the Harz region. The individually decorated rooms at Hotel & Spa Wasserschloss Westerburg are equipped with a flat-screen TV, free WiFi and classic-style furniture. Rooms are located throughout the circular castle, the castle and the gatehouse, and most rooms have direct access to the free spa area. The Prinzessin Marie Pauline restaurant serves regional and seasonal dishes prepared with herbs and spices from the hotel’s own herb garden, and has an adjoining south-facing terrace. A hearty breakfast buffet is served at Wasserschloss Westerburg to begin the day. The Barock-style castle chapel dating from 1681 can host weddings for up to 60 guests. Events can also be held in the Ritterkeller (knights' cellar), the Vitalbar (health bar) and in the Gräfliche Amtsstube event facilities. Many open-air concerts, opera and theatre performances take place every summer in the spacious Burghof (castle yard) during the Westerburger Kultursommer (culture summer) festivities. Towns such as Halberstadt, Wernigerode or the UNESCO World Heritage cities of Goslar and Quedlinburg are a 30-minute drive away. Larger cities such as Braunschweig, Wolfsburg and Hanover are around a 1-hour drive away. Free parking is available at Wasserschloss Westerburg, Westerburg is situated on the Romanesque Road and is among the 80 most significant monuments in Saxony-Anhalt.
