Hello, I am Carine. Together with my husband Bart we host Bartine in Mariakerke Ostend. We enjoy welcoming people to our vacation home. We like to give each guest a personal welcome and show them around the complex. In this way we hope that our guests also feel genuinely welcome. During the entire stay we are available and also when checking out we come to see our guests off. We have already noticed that people can appreciate that. Bartine is just outside the city center, but is easily accessible on foot (20') or by streetcar (5'). Crossing the street, you are on the dike and have the beach right in front of you. It's great to relax on a terrace with the (setting) sun in a glass of wine or over a nice coffee first thing in the morning. Bartine is also an ideal base for trips to Bruges, Ghent, Brussels and Antwerp. By streetcar you will be at the train station in no time. There you can buy a train ticket at the ticket machine for a ride to Belgium's most beautiful art cities. If you like to stay close to the coast, there is the streetcar that takes you from Ostend to Knokke or from Ostend to De Panne. Along the Belgian coast there are also many beautiful seaside towns worth visiting. Even those who are sporty and want to cycle here can fully indulge themselves. You can cycle along the coastline or opt for the polders. Via various junctions (www.dekust.be/fietsen/fietsrouteplanner) you can map out your own cycling route. As you can see, there is something for everyone. And after a full day of enjoyment, there are plenty of places to eat and drink in the immediate vicinity or in the center of Ostend. Still in doubt? Our guests find Bartine an ideal base for all kinds of activities or just for a lazy day at the beach. Did you know that Ostend also has great museums such as the James Ensor House, Mu.ZEE, Atlantikwal Raversyde, Museumschip Amandine and the Sailing Ship Mercator. In addition, the Queen of seaside towns is also known for its numerous annual events. Just think of TAZ (Theater aan zee), the Paulusfeesten, Oostende voor Anker, the Film Festival, the Oktoberfoor.... There is also a hippodrome and a casino. Or how about The Crystal Ship, an artistic trail with murals by renowned artists in the inner city and Het Groen Lint around Ostend.
