The house is beautifully designed and we loved that it's different than most Japanese guest houses. It's lovely to have such a modern and cozy concept in a small town, away from the crowds. There is actually a lot of charm in the town and it was one of our favorite stops on a month-long trip to Japan. That is also because of Alrik, who manages the property. He was so kind, hospitable, and friendly! We felt welcomed as friends, not just hotel guests. He did everything we could to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. There is a beautiful forest around, the view from the top of the town is lovely, so is the walk by the river and sunset. The Shinto shrine was such a special experience too! Thank you, Alrik and Next Chapter for this beautiful stay! We will come back to the area just to visit the guest house again, especially if Alrik is still running it!

The guest house staff were lovely and made sure I knew where to find everything. They had a really nice common area with tea, snacks, miso soup for free as well as snacks & cups of noodle soup to buy and a nice little kitchen that everyone could use. The rooms are small but clean, well equipped and contain everything you need. I also really appreciated that they had a locker outside to use for free for pilgrims hiking up to temple 88 - such a kind gesture and perfect for those like me who needed somewhere to leave their large backpacks while making the steep climb up to 88.

The guest house is located in an ideal location for exploring the fabulous old Uchiko houses, in short, thoroughly recommended.
