While it’s not a fully private room, the sleeping area is well separated, offering a comfortable sense of privacy. Sounds do carry a bit, as it’s an old house, but the creativity in the space makes each stay feel fresh and inspiring. It’s conveniently located—about 10 minutes by bus to Shin-Suizenji Station and around 15 minutes to central Kumamoto. The nearby “Gootarian” space is also a nice addition. The area has historic spots like Kengun Shrine, perfect for a morning walk. With shops, supermarkets, and convenience stores nearby, it’s easy to grab a bento or snacks and relax at the accommodation. It really feels like staying in a local home. Free parking is a big plus. I prefer not to drive at night, so being able to park and explore by bus has worked out perfectly.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room was large and clean. Our room was the family room with a decent sized playhouse inside where the kids play and even sleep. The building is old, but has been remodeled and is comfortable. The baked goods in the cafe on the 1st floor are delicious, and the cafe is whimsical and charming. There’s a kid’s playroom at the back of the cafe which was great for us, a group with lots of kids. There are also many ceramic wares by local artists for sale. I’d like to visit when the weather is cooler and explore the neighborhood.

Very cheap stay in Kumamoto The staff were ridiculously friendly and helpful The check in machine was easy to use The parking onsite was great and you pay at the same machine you use to check in on. Amenities were offered if you forgot anything as well as free coffee. Good location for a few restaurants around the area
Very clean and comfortable hostel in a great location. The shared kitchen space was lovely, and the rooms were quiet and cosy.
What a glorious find! Book this place-you will not regret it. - great location a couple of minutes walk from both A and B trams, walk to the castle and centre - beautiful hostel with lovely interior -tatami mat floors and very comfortable futons - the hostess is very sweet and the whole place has a lovely feel to it - kitchen is big - super clean - rooftop observatory and table - laundry
Comfortable beds, very modern, clean, lots of room. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed in.
Very helpful staff and accommodating at check-in! Plentiful parking and a good central location - although it's not well connected by public transport. Nearby convenience stores to grab food options, and overall a cheap stay in Kumamoto!
The youth hostel is perfectly located near Aso JR station, the bus centre, a nice onsen, a lovely salon, and a restaurant which offers great food at a reasonable price. All of the facilities can be accessed within 3 minutes by walking. Cuddly Dominion where you can enjoy a helicopter ride is just 15 minutes walking distance from the hostel. I recommend this lovely hostel to everyone who wants to explore Aso and Kurosawa Onsens
it’s not a hotel , it’s a poor excuse for a youth hostel, felt like a prison , signs all over saying be quiet . No ceilings in the sleep areas . not sound proof at all , heard zipper suitcase in next room. no separation between sexes.
Very good experience, the hostel is perfect if you want to stay in Beppu and meet new people. The bar area at the ground floor is perfect to drink a beer with other guests, and it's also possible to have dinner and breakfast (at a very good price). The owners are really nice, it's a pleasure to stay with them. I definitely recommend it!
