It is situated close to the beach & restaurant area, & the property itself has a big common area & a beautiful outside area to meet & hang out with staff & other travelers. what makes this place unique, however, is the people who run it - they are so friendly, welcoming, & really care about you. If you are thinking of coming to varkala, then “Hostel Stories” is where you want to stay at for the good vibes!

Maybe my favourite hostel after 4 months in India - I booked for 2 nights and ended up staying over a week. You can get out of bed and jump straight into the backwaters. The sunrise boat tour through the mangroves is a must (& really good value). Loved the Keralan breakfast in the morning, and appreciated being able to use the kitchen to cook my own food after travelling for ages! Attracts a great backpacker crowd and is super social in a chill way. Rooms are simple but clean and the outdoor common areas are perfect - hammocks galore. Thanks for a great stay 🌊🌴🌞

The hostel was very clean, everything was new and worked well. It was nicely furnished. There was warm water in shower. Lot of space in the room and common area. The common area seemed good for socializing. There wasn't a kitchen but a place to eat your own food and wash your dishes. Air conditioning worked well in the room. There was a television in the common area from which you could probably watch movies. There was nice music in common area. The place was peaceful. I could leave my luggages in the hostel for few hours after checking out. There was a small cafe from where you could buy drinks like coffee, juices and maybe some cutted fruits.

At the hostel, rooms include a desk and a balcony with a mountain view. Every room is fitted with a safety deposit box and certain rooms have river views. At Crossroads Hostel 1957 all rooms come with a wardrobe and a flat-screen TV. This place exuded good vibes. The entire staff were all fantastic. So helpful, so accommodating, so friendly. If you have any travel related questions or are in need of recommendations on where to go/what to see/how to get there they’ve got your back. The food prepared in the kitchen is top notch and super affordable. Beds were comfy enough. Facilities were clean. They even have a clothes washer with plenty of lines to hang dry. Lots of space for chilling/relaxing.

The host was very friendly and welcoming, also really helpful in planning day trips around the area, he gave great advice and recommendations. The breakfast that was included was delicious. The rooms were clean and the AC worked.
