The area surrounding is beautiful, including a little restaurant we could walk to and beautiful villages and a lovely onsen within a short drive. The location is great for visiting this region, and even farther afield destinations, like Kanazawa on the north coast, felt quite accessible from here by car.

Kuni, the host, explained some folk tales as well, and the house felt like a smaller version of the houses at shirikawa-go so it really made the whole experience of visiting both places much better. Highly recommended!
