The host was really nice. It was very beautiful inside, and you can see Kumamoto Castle from the rooftop. It has a kitchen, laundry room, shower room, powder room, and you can buy towels or toothbrushes if you need them. I recommend you if you want to stay somewhere special in Kumamoto. You have to take the subway or bus from Kumamoto Station, but it's in between major tourist attractions and Kumamoto Station, so it's good for traveling. If you have luggage, I recommend a backpack rather than a carrier.

The family who runs this hostel is really lovely. They even invited us for their Sunday night family dinner, food was delicious and we shared a great time. If you plan to visit Aso, Beppu, Oita or Takachiho Gorge the hostel is really well situated, on the way to a local bus going there. Definitely recommend it.

It is a loveley traditional Japanese style house with much comfort. The staff is so nice, I had a great time with Yu. You sleep on classic Futon beds. Everything is nice and clean and you can really feel that the staff is caring about every detail.
