First was hesitant to book because the accommodation had only two reviews on Booking.com back then. Thankfully got proven so wrong as soon we arrived at the location and got greeted by the landlord. It's a hidden gem! The house is located in close proximity to the Ena stage of the famous Japan Rally thus the house (and because the owner is a huge fan) is themed around it. Both the next convenience store and train station are located 3km away in Akechi. Arriving by car is your best option and parking is provided for free on the property. The house and rooms are traditional Japanese-style and bedding is provided in western-style. The room and all facilities were absolutely clean and well maintained. Labels and signage are even provided in English. Despite the shoji doors we had no issues with noise during the night. The spa with the newly installed sauna and outdoor hot bath is plenty for this accommodation. Toothbrush, razors and Q-tips are provided in the shared bathroom. Although check-in is only possible until 8pm the owner thankfully accommodated us warmly after arriving late. He even pre-heated our room and the sauna for us which was a great gesture as after we got caught in a thunderstorm on our motorcycles. Will definitely come back here the next time I return to Gifu prefecture!

We loved our stay here! The location is beautiful as it is a wooden house in a little village, surrounded by nature. This place is inviting you to relax. This place is run by a family and they are extremely sweet and helpful. It was a pleasure to meet them and it made our trip even better. We loved the fact that there was a full kitchen available and everything was really clean. The breakfast of empanadas was amazing. It is easy to bring groceries from ena town. I would definitely come again! The only thing to mention is that there is only 1 toilet and 1 shower, so you'll have to share. All in all we had a lovely stay and we'll be back one day.

We stayed here during our trip to Magomejuku. The living room, stocked with plenty of board games, was a delightful bonus for our family. The bunk beds were a hit with my kids as well, though naturally, they weren’t as comfortable or spacious as those in a good hotel. Walking through the beautifully preserved old streets in the neighborhood was also a real joy.

The house is amazing, I was sad that I only spent one night there, it was a great experience to stay in a Japanese house, Assi was very friendly and welcoming, made me feel at home, helped me to get a restaurant as I arrived late, and gave suggestion for my breakfast next morning.I definitely recommend this place. Magome Chaya guesthouse is right in the middle of the small town of Magome. Could not ask for a more central location. The location along with the hard working and friendly staff made for an incredible stay. We did not do dinner, but we did have breakfast. The food was simple traditional Japanese breakfast, but was very hardy, tasty and kept us going on our hike that day. If you are going to hike the trail and need a simple friendly place to stay, this is it.
