Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. The lodging was excellent with the ultimate Japanese experience. The room had every immensity possible and the bed was really comfortable. We would differently stay here again.

The hosts were fabulous, so friendly and helpful, and the breakfast (and dinner) were amazing!

Staff were so friendly. Foreign traveler friendly as staff can speak English. Location is perfect. Don’t miss out on this place. A Takayama Gem!

Just 40 metres from restored Edo-era post town Magome-Juku, Chaya Hotel has simple traditional rooms with futon bedding and a tatami-mat floor. It has a hot public bath, and Japanese meals are available for a fee. Everything. The food. the people. The place. Very clean. Very nice people. Everything was unique.

Hida Takayama Hodakaso Yamano Iori is just a 3-minute walk from JR Takayama Train Station and a 10-minute walk from Old Town and Takayama Jinya and Miyagawa Morning Market. The hotel is located in the center of Takayama city, and there are many restaurants around. The Japanese-style accommodation offers spacious public baths. No meals are provided, but bread and soup are provided as light meals in the room. Free parking is provided on site. Best hotel we’ve been too in Japan, the atmosphere was very nice, the room comfortable and the location is great. The onsen is public but nobody was there when we used it so we enjoyed a private experience.

JR Takayama Station is located a 3-minute walk away. The hotel is very close to the train station so that was super convenient for us because we are heavy packers. Very friendly and helpful staff. We loved that onsen, we loved the breakfast and the free ramen in the evening. Everything was perfect.
