This is the quintessential place to stay in Beijing if you want to experience a beautiful blend of art, culture, nature and history. Jocelyn and her team of dedicated staff were constantly on hand to answer all of our questions, they were so helpful, gave us loads of useful advice and assistance with any technical issues with accessing the local facilities via Alipay and WeChat. We went to Badaling Great Wall so easily for a day trip by taking the subway to Beijing Bei (North) station (Xizhimen subway station on Line 2, Line 4 and Line 13) and bought high speed railway tickets to visit at short notice and at a very cheap price. We would highly recommend getting a private bus trip via Trip.com to Jinshanling (Great Wall) which is about 2 hours outside Beijing by getting the subway to Dongximen subway station. This was the highlight of our stay, much quieter than Badaling, cheaper cable car and vast parts of the wall to explore if you have the energy and time. Beijing Shadow Art Performance Courtyard is a must stay, nestled within one of the many historic Hudongs of downtown Beijing. You will not be disappointed and only left wanting to explore this amazing country/city more.

The Orchid Hotel, Beijing, ubicado en una antigua residencia bien conservada, se encuentra en la histórica zona de Hutong, en el corazón de Pekín, a 12 minutos a pie del lago Houhai, una zona repleta... Staying at the Orchid Hotel has been the highlight of my trip to Beijing. The hotel is neatly tucked away in a very quiet part of the Hutong not far from the historic Drum Tower (can be seen from the hotel’s rooftop). Many landmarks, restaurants, bars, and shops are conveniently located nearby and can be explored by foot — my preferred option. In terms of the space, the hotel’s interior has been carefully designed to preserve the characteristics of the very historic neighborhood while adding a bit of modern aesthetics. Finally, I very much enjoyed interacting with the staff, who were very friendly and eager to share the real Beijing experience with the guests.
