We absolutely loved our stay and we were treated so well. I would like to give an especial mention of the wonderfully helpful response that Melissa, manager, gave us when I asked if we could move to a larger room. I am partially disabled and use a cane and my husband's arm, and there wasn't enough room to get around. She immediately organized a beautifully spacious suite, with lovely furniture, at the same rate. I was so contented to just stay at the hotel, watching the sea, spotting whales, and resting up. We are home now and feel greatly restored.

The location is WOW! The views are outstanding, and the hotel is so central. The seating area and pool is beautiful. The reception area is full of character. Our room exceeded all expectations! Beautiful balcony overlooking the pool and the sea. A woodfire heated hot tub (fabulous), the room was really big, exceptionally clean, smart tv, fridge, beautiful free-standing bath in the room with bath salts. It was truly gorgeous. Loved it. Staff at reception were beyond helpful! So informative about local tours etc and even rang and booked dinners for us when we were dining elsewhere.

    Hermanus is a pretty town with some lovely shops, art galleries and restaurants. I really enjoyed the coastal path to walk along to enjoy views of the sea, and hopefully spot some whales. We went on a great boat ride to see the whales a bit closer.

    So many amenities within a short distance from the...

    So many amenities within a short distance from the accommodation and we were lucky to see whales on each of the four days that we were there. The town and area was very clean and easy to get around. We hope to visit there again soon.

    We saw lots of whales from the coastal path without...

    We saw lots of whales from the coastal path without necessarily having to go far from Gearing’s Point. The weather affects sightings-our final morning was windier and we saw nothing in an hour. Consider boat trips from the New Harbour in Hermanus to save the drive to and from Gansbaai. We saw hundreds of dolphins which swam right next to the boat for ages, a protracted and close encounter with a humpback whale and several southern rights with Hermanus Whale Watchers - we even glimpsed a Bryde’s whale and some seals. Hermanus is a relaxed town which makes tourists feel very welcome.

    We stayed just one night for an early morning boat trip to do some whale watching. The whale watching itself was fabulous, and I would recommend that to anyone. Not having been to Hermanus before, I did not know what to expect of the town itself, but now wish that we had booked to stay a day or two longer. Hermanus is a lovely place to take walks, see an abundance of wildlife, and has a great atmosphere - loads of great cafés and restaurants to chill and relax.

    It was my first visit to Hermanus and I can't wait to return! We stayed in a holiday lodge right on the beachfront with a sea view right from our bed. We were past the busy touristy town area. If you continue driving past the town with the sea to your right, you will find this more upmarket area. From there, you can access the cliff path that lines the beaches and stretches for about 12 kilometers, linking it with the town and other areas. You can enjoy some exceptional ocean views from this path.

    A perfect serene stay in a quiet rocky bay (away from the hustle and bustle of central Hermanus). The room was enormous with a breathtaking sea view. Relaxed atmosphere throughout. Direct access to the coastal walking path. Onsite free parking with a daily car wash. Excellent breakfast with many different options. The hotel has the most outstanding staff (accommodating, efficient, knowledgeable) adding to the perfection. I dream of returning!

    The location incredible and hospitality of all the staff was great. The rooms were spotless and the whole experience far beyond our expectations. The breakfast was adequate - and if you want a full on breakfast - go to a hotel or bed and breakfast. The value for money was excellent.
