In a league to its own in historic Island inns. Not overly decorated or inappropriately quirky and kitschy. Restaurant and bar were also above competition in terms of quality, decor and execution. As well as menu was inline with the appropriate level of New England waterfront cuisine utilizing local ingredients without being overly innovative or trendy.

There were plenty of restaurants and shops in town and good views of the harbor. We ate three of our five meals (two breakfasts and a lunch) at a small take-out called Rebecca's. It turned out that they had some indoor seating, which we took advantage of for breakfast. Getting around Block Island is a dilemma. If you're young enough, bicycles and mopeds seem to work well. Getting a car across on the ferry requires advanced planning, and you might find parking at your hotel difficult. For old folks like us, taxis were a necessity to get beyond the old harbor area.

    I really enjoyed New Shoreham.

I really enjoyed New Shoreham. It is beautiful with so many beaches and hiking and biking trails. I went "off season" so it was very quiet, and some eateries had closed. But I enjoyed the quiet. One of my favorite things is how dog friendly everyplace is.

Wonderful walking around Block Island ! Beautiful views, lovely gardens ,great architecture, dozens of restaurants and unique shops and galleries. The visitors guide maps direct you to routes to easily see the many highlights . I felt like a I was on a vacation in another country- so rich with historical buildings, amazing vistas over the bluffs , fabulous ocean views , the wind farms and lush flowering plants everywhere.

A beautiful island to visit, even in November after most lodging and restaurants are closed for the season. Bring your walking shoes or bikes and enjoy the many lovely views of the ocean and quiet scrub woodland walks. The Barn restaurant just uphill from the Inn at Spring House served fabulous food. McAloon's Pub and the Island Pub were also fun for lunch. When we return, we will re-book at the Inn at Spring House - beautiful, modern accommodation, with a nice balcony to eat our picnic lunch on and view the ocean, after arriving from the ferry. And all the animals at Abram's farm near the Inn, including little kangaroos and camels, were a delight. Adolfo's breakfast omelet with spinach, zucchini and fresh goat cheese was fabulous. Plus, the bike rack in the back yard was a nice secure place to leave our bikes.

This harbor town with large ferry terminal, is always bustling. A nice assortment of hotels, restaurants, and shops greet the arriving visitors. Very walkable with many sidewalks and prominent crosswalks. Cars were always considerate of walkers/bikers. Beautiful Victorian-style architecture was prominent throughout the town.

Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 90 reviews
Staff and cleanliness was good.. location was insane. No sign from main road. No idea that you signbin at Atlantic House but the staff called to tell me. I had to hop a fence at the zoo to get there! It was the most money I ever spent in my life for a hotel room. Deck and views were magnificent but being a senior very hard to find.

It's a wonderful location, a beautiful place. The porch has a great view, it's also very quiet and away from the hustle and bustle of New Shoreham, but close to the beach.
