Great lodge with the most amazing view of the forest! It’s located in a very quiet and peaceful area but it is easy to get there from Buhoma and Ruhija. Nelly and her staff are amazing and you always feel like home. I look forward to coming back.

From the moment I arrived at the airstrip,the lodge had arranged for a driver to pick me up, to arriving at the lodge,the hospitality was exceptional. The staff were incredibly welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind ,they made me feel right at home. The lodge is beautifully perched in the hills, offering stunning views of the surrounding forest and mountains. Waking up to the peaceful sounds of nature and seeing the morning mist drift through the trees was simply magical. The rooms at Kaara Mountain Lodge are spacious, immaculately clean, and thoughtfully designed. There’s a perfect balance of comfort, luxury, and eco-friendliness. I especially appreciated the little touches, like the cozy hot water bottles in the bed at night and the warm turndown service after a long day. The food was another standout ;fresh, delicious, and made with great care. Each meal, from the early breakfast before trekking to the hearty dinner in the evening, was a treat. The dining area itself is beautifully set, making every meal feel special. Most importantly, the lodge is ideally located for gorilla tracking, making the logistics incredibly easy. After an awe-inspiring day of encountering mountain gorillas, returning to the calm and comfort of Kaara Mountain Lodge was the perfect way to unwind and reflect on such a unique experience.

Great place! We stayed there for two nights and it was amazing. The lodge is beautiful and the staff is superfriendly. They even preheated our beds with hot water bottles. Really nice lodge and very close to Rushaga entrance, we would stay there anytime again.

Cylia and all the staff were fantastic and made sure we didn't miss anything! We are two young women and we stayed at the Ruhija Gorilla Guest house for one night and then tracked with the gorillas the next day but we would have stayed longer! Our room was fantastic, spacious, clean and with two big comfortable beds. The dinner they cooked for us was great and Cylia is careful to fulfil your every wish. Before dinner we visited the village (an experience not to be missed) we met the local people and visited the school and the orphanage; all the people are extremely kind. 1 Fabulous staff. Moses is absolutely lovely and so helpful and attentive and made me feel so cared for. Alphonse was not often there but when I did see him he was full of useful information and advice and help. He arranged transport to the start of my Gorilla Habituation, took some dollars to a money changer for me and drove me to Muko on his boda boda and waited with me for 1.5 hours until the Jaguar bus arrived. Thank you Moses and Alphonse. 2. Silver the owner arranged my Gorilla Habituation permit for me for $50 3. The location of the camp is absolutely perfect and knowing this from last year I added an extra day to my stay so that I could enjoy just sitting on the observation deck relaxing for a whole day! Next time I will stay even longer! 4. My room Sitatunga was excellent--large and airy with very comfortable beds and a lovely en suite with hot shower and a lovely spacious balcony that Moses served my dinner on. 5. The food was very good and Alphonse very kindly allowed me to have just one course rather than the set meal as my appetite is small.
