FAQs about hotels in Istanbul

The Best of Asia and Europe

The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendour and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.

Take a stroll through the historic centre or the bustling Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.

If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.

Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for your holiday in Istanbul.

Stay in the center, as the size of the city is enormous.

Stay in the center, as the size of the city is enormous. Use the public transport boats and ferries, which you can do with your Istanbul card, instead of the expensive tourist boat trips. Visit some places out of the center too. We did Ortaköy and Balat, and worth is. More friendly and less crowded than in the center.

Istanbul is beautiful and the weather was perfect in October. I enjoyed walking in the streets and the sights were breath taking; however, food and daily commute are expensive and challenging due to language barriers.

We had visited Istanbul many times before and had been a little reluctant to come back knowing that a number of years had passed and we were uncertain what might have changed. We had such an excellent time, all the sights, sounds and tastes came rushing back to us. The only negative is the cost - everything was so much more expensive than we expected but when you're on holiday, you just need to get on with it - which we did.

Istanbul us a lovely city, very safe, people are helpful and friendly, transport very easy to use. Having been to Istanbul now many times it Has become more expensive since last visit , especially food. Tourist attractions very expensive admission prices Group travel may not notice because prices are inclusive but individual travellers it was hard to budget for, especially for Australians.

I love history and Istanbul has it in abundance.

I love history and Istanbul has it in abundance. The Hagia Sophia and Sultanahmet Mosques are must visits. Turkish food is superb and I would highly recommend taking a guided food tour to develop an understanding and appreciation for Turkish cuisine as well as discovering more of the city. The public transport is excellent and we found ourselves using the tram service multiple times a day. We were on a short break enroute to Dubai and wished we had allowed for more time to see more of Istanbul. We’ll be back

We had a wonderful stay here! We received a room upgrade, which really made our stay. The room was fantastic and had a wonderful bathroom/balcony, which were extremely spacious. The spa was lovely, the staff were very helpful and the hotel was very clean and modern. Would definitely recommend for anyone staying in Istanbul. There was a free shuttle available which needs pre booking, however we were happy to pay for a taxi to Taksim square, which was only a few euros. We will definitely be recommending this hotel to family/friends!

I always stay at the Marble Hotel in Istanbul, whether with family or as a solo traveler. This December, I had three different bookings as I traveled to Bursa and returned. I've stayed here almost 10 times over the past three years, spending a total of more than 30 days. The hotel staff are very friendly and supportive. Eren is an excellent leader. The breakfast was outstanding, and the location is unbeatable—right at the heart of Taksim Square and Istiklal Street. December in Istanbul was exceptional, with amazing weather.

Pure luxury from the moment you enter the property. The service received from all staff was faultless. The food throughout the hotel was a 5 star experience. We especially enjoyed the club lounge experience as it’s always a highlight during our stay. The view from our front Bosphorus view room was breathtaking as we were situated on the 8th floor. We are regular guests of the Ritz Istanbul and will definitely be back soon.
