I have been around Thailand for many years and visited a lot of places but never petchaburi. I was most surprised in a good way. The food options are outstanding the pra nakorn Kiri temple and the mahathat temple are as good as you will see in Thailand and the locals are very friendly. Charming small town, slightly off the tourist beaten track, this isn’t a bad thing! Plenty of temples to visit. Relatively easy to walk to all the main sights. People are very friendly. Despite arriving in Petchaburi after dark, there was no problem with late check in and I got even offered a ride from the train station. The room was clean and comfortable, just what I would need for a night stay on my journey. The following morning, I borrowed a bicycle for free and explored the town. What really makes this place unique is the family who owns it - they are incredibly nice and helpful and they like to share their knowledge etc about Phetchaburi. The breakfast that's included is great - they make everything in the morning and the ingredients are all from Phetchaburi. They have a very beautiful Italian style courtyard and the facades. Also they have a nice coffee house in the middle of the courtyard which is very cute. They have a family tree of the house owners which is a very good hotel now. A stunning view to the river and some temples on the other bank of the river.
