The city is being reborn from inside out. Many old buildings have been restored to their original glory. Many are under restoration projects. Same for historical buildings, churches and cultural landmarks. You can see, feel and touch history that goes back over 2,000 years... and feel safe and welcomed. It was my first time visiting Timișoara, and I really enjoyed the city centre — perhaps the leaders in Bucharest could take some inspiration. The streets I walked along had plenty of green spaces and beautiful houses, but unfortunately, many parks seem neglected. I wanted to visit the Hunyad Museum, but it is permanently closed; it would help to mention the reason in its description. The Museum of the Communist Consumer was not quite what I expected — perhaps because it’s a private initiative — but it deserves more attention, as I saw tourists coming specifically for it. The Iron Bridge is also just a point on the tourist map, yet it’s in disrepair and unkempt. Timisoara people are kind, friendly people. The food is good, and the prices are moderate. Occasionally, there is the noise of motorbikes or quads on the major city streets, but this is rare. It's close to the center, it has safe parking (if you can get to one of the limited spots), the rooms are large and clean, the beds are comfortable and the hotel looks very nice. This time I did not enjoy breakfast because I was always late to get out of bed, but last time I stayed at the Savoy, in 2021, breakfast was very good.
