this was THE BEST hotel of our trip in portugal. Amazingly nice staff, beautiful property, and the most delicious breakfast you can imagine. Dinners in the restaurant were excellent too. Great location for exploring Douro Valley as well. We are dreaming of going back!

We had great conact with the host Ana before arrival to arange check-in. She did everything to let us feel comfortable. Great room and bathroom, very well equiped and styled with good taste. The staff were all super nice and gave us good information about the area. We had a room with balcony. It was good to sit out on the balcony in the sun. The swimming pool area is also nice and we enjoyed a day by the pool. Breakfast was good. And we also had dinner at the hotel and it was good, mixed grill and portions were big. The location is very good. Nice touch to use the castle walls in the interior of the hotel.

The view from the hotel is breathtaking, the hotel park and surrounding really well kept with beautiful gardens. The restaurant was really good with authentic Portuguese food at a really good price and the breakfast the next day was really complete and fresh. The staff was very kind, they could accommodate the breakfast 30 min earlier since we needed to leave early. Would definitely recommend!

This little house is just that, everything is there, but small. The way it is organized, however makes it very comfortable for a base of visiting the town. You can make your breakfast in the morning and take off to see the local sights and everything is close. You can actually see the top of the Sanctuary (with all the steps) from the windows. It is quiet and the bed is comfy. Our bus didn't leave till mid afternoon and the hosts let us stay an extra couple hours-thanks.
