Thank you for your hospitality. Your facilities are well maintained, kept clean and very convenient. Also your advice is very useful for us to do hiking here. As we are not familiar to this place, your advice is fatherly warm. Another very unique appreciation to you is you respect my country. When I see my national flag flying here, I almost cannot hold tears. I cannot forget the moment to my flag. Of course these pictures are well spread in my community. Thanks Mass and Simon!

Everything ❤️ We had an amazing stay, staff let us check in earlier which was helpful as the weather was not nice to go on the crossing 😅 Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Also kitchen and lodge was cozy and nice to hang out on a rainy day.

Thomas and Tracy are great people. They help you with whatever you need and they welcome you warmly in their place. It was really easy to book shuttle and carparking for Tongariro with them. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and homey. You can play a lot of games at lobby and watch netflix. This was highlight of staying in NZ, lovely place with lovely people :)

The management is chaotic. I lost my ski poles.

The management is chaotic. I lost my ski poles. It took me an hour to find them among three girls. I found that all their equipment was someone else's. I was shocked. There were too many novices. My friend's child was hit three times in one day. It was really dangerous.

We loved our visit. Fantastic views and quality time.

We loved our visit. Fantastic views and quality time. Easy to get around in a standard car. Weather conditions were clear and bright, mild cold temperatures so a very minimal amount of ice on the road. We recommend the sky waka gondola. The skotel alpine resort is a good place to stay.

The isite leaves a lot to be desired.

The isite leaves a lot to be desired. It could easily go from barely adequate to basic competence by putting boards outside stating the office is closed. As walkers are supposed to register their walks on the mountain you wonder how accurate their information is when the office is closed and there isn’t even a notice board outside for walkers to use to show they’ve left or returned. The village in summer, now the Chateau is closed, has very little available accommodation. There is a shop for basics and Skotel runs a great restaurant and bar.

Absolutely recommend the 2 hour walk to Taranaki Falls.

Absolutely recommend the 2 hour walk to Taranaki Falls. You can do it in sneakers, some parts are lovely bush right alongside the river. The landscape keeps changing. Its beautiful and the air is so fresh. There's a table at the falls so take your picnic and stop for a while. Get your caffeine fix from TNT Pataka Food Truck at Whakapapa Holiday Park, they make a decent coffee and the food looked good too. Unfortunately some places in the area closed due to staff shortages, so it might pay to check for what is open when you visit.

Hi, It is better to plan your trip for at least two days.

Hi, It is better to plan your trip for at least two days. You can enrol your kids to ski school at the nearby school for a longer duration trip so that they learn the art of skiing. Bringing chains with the car will help you to revisit the Whakapapa skiing location often and reduce the commute cost. All in all, it was good to see snow all around especially if you are coming from the northern part of NZ.

Meant to say in my review last night that we had a lovely waitress for dinner, young girl,Lisa? And the main reason we didn't pay for the dinner was because it came 10past10pm, besides one was not eatable.

The rooms and facilities were very clean and tidy. Next time I would probably ask for a room as far away from the kitchen as possible as we could hear noise from the kitchen, however we took the cheapest option avaliable and I really think we got great value for the price. Would definitely like to stay again and use more of the facilities such as the spa and be able to spend time sitting out on the beautiful deck.of the restaurant. Great location if doing the Tongariro Crossing.

Good access up to the Sky Waka. National Park nearby offered some good meal choices. Walk to Taranaki Falls nearby was worthwhile even though we took the long way. Very scenic.
