We had a fantastic stay. The house is in a very quiet and safe residential area. As we arrived a bit late, we received very clear self check-in instructions. Debbie was so kind to even switch on the house light to make it easier for us to access the house. Everything was sparkling clean, the house is built and designed with so much love and thoughtfulness. The apartment is spacious and has all storage options you might need. Large bedside tables (free of clutter) with plugs on both sides of the bed. Shelves and towel holders in the bathroom, a space for your clothes, great kitchen, large TV ... The whole interior is finished to high spec and it feels like a home, not a holiday let. Everything you might need and more was provided, Debbie even left some snacks for us. We felt we stayed with family and friends. We would love to return and stay for longer !!

Our hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Mary was very knowledgeable about the hikes in the area. The location was very convenient for visiting Tongariro National Park. Not to mention Mary's delicious breakfasts!

    Turangi is a beautiful, scenic location and the people are very welcoming and friendly. We were impressed by the service and choices at the Hydro Cafe, the Flytackle shop and the NZ Post shop. We also enjoyed the Pihanga Gallery showcasing local art and crafts and a delicious Italian meal at Valentinos. It was beautiful in late autumn and we'll visit again.

    I left Turangi and just came back after 17 years.

    I left Turangi and just came back after 17 years. There's a lot of improvement and a lot busier. I love Turangi and the sorrounding area. I was just dissapointed when I found out that the public toilet is not working.

    If you want to be near the Tongariri National Park and all of its beauty, Turangi is a good location. The town itself is not glamorous but has a few good restaurants. It's all about the park and the gorgeous river.

    We stayed here because it made for a convenient base of...

    We stayed here because it made for a convenient base of operations for our planned day hike of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. Unfortunately, that fell through as our shuttle was canceled due to rain, which then exposed the fact that Turangi itself isn't a very interesting town. There aren't really any activities, the stores and restaurants opened late and closed early... or just weren't open to begin with! We drove twenty minutes to a restaurant for lunch only to discover Google Maps lied when it said it was open for lunch! If you aren't choosing it for its proximity to Tongariro National Park, I'd advise staying in Lake Taupo instead.

    Turangi is a great starting point for the Tongariro Crossing...

    Turangi is a great starting point for the Tongariro Crossing, the Tongariro Northern Circuit Great Walk, or many shorter walks in the vicinity. Can also recommend Tongariro River Rafting for a very well equiped and organised morning of white water.

    A great location for staying if you are doing the Tongariro...

    A great location for staying if you are doing the Tongariro Crossing. House had good kitchen for home prepared meals (needed in our case for special diets) , 2 bathrooms with good showers, comfortable beds and relaxing spaces after doing the Tongariro crossing

    This is a little gem. Family friendly and great for us old folks too, with simple, private hot pools and a covered, outdoor hot pool with cooler outdoor above ground pool. Wonderful for star gazing, The chalets are a reasonable size, comfy bed and the laundry and Wi-Fi are free, essential for us independent travelers. We drove out for a trip and immediately passed the steaming cliffs and stopped at wonderful reed bedded beach, by lake Taupo. The drives from Whakatani to Turangi and on to Wellington, are stunning.

    The Quarters is a lovely, compact accommodation complex in Tūrangi, 40 mins from Taupo. Our studio room was small, but we knew this when we booked it. The room was modern and clean, great for a one night stay. The shared kitchen and outdoor area was well kept too! Nice walk down the river nearby. Good location. Would say that the room did let in a lot of light, which made it harder to sleep in the morning. The WiFi box also flashed in the room. No TV which would have been a nice added touch!
