Lovely sitting at the beach bar on sun set, cold beer watching the rabbits graze. Had a nice dinner and stay at Stumpers. Lovely place to visit. Central for west coast adventures. We took day trips from our accomodation to things like Punakaiki and Greymouth. Downside we found not many food options to choose from in town itself and gas prices were fairly high.Guest review byCatriona - 10.0

We were on our way to Frans Josef and wanted somewhere to break our journey. Hokitika turned out to be a perfect choice. At first glance it didn't appear to offer a lot but after a closer look it's quite a little gem. It's small but offered a variety of good places to eat from pizzas to good pub food (The Regent Theatre Cafe, The Hokitika Sandwich Company were standouts), and also had some very nice boutiques, a bookstore and gift shops to wander through. It was perfect for an overnight stay. Leave time for a stroll in the afternoon on arrival and then the next morning before leaving. The whole experience with this hotel was simple and hassle-free. Our room and bathroom were spacious and well-appointed with all the amenities we didn't even know we needed! The hotel is located a short <5 minutes outside of town and offers a fantastic sunset view of the ocean. There are also alpacas right next door.
