Hawera is a town of 8,000 people but it seems a lot more. A rural town with a very country feel it has modern amenities and lots of different food options to choose from. Just a quick overnight stay.
Just a quick overnight stay. It coincided with a well put together celebration of Mat ariki but not called that, just a mid-winter celebration. It was winding down as the drums filled with wood to create warmth and ambience had not lasted the distance. The town had obviously come out for it, families and young people mostly. Stalls, food trucks live entertainment. Well done for whomever was the brains behind it. Bought dinner from the pizza place central on the high street opposite an open courtyard area that had a solitary swing hanging. Food was good but took rather a long time.Guest review byJ. Handy to drive as it is just 10minutes to its small town. The set up and the stuffs in the chalet brought back my childhood memories of visiting my grandparents during school holidays. It’s also good to show my little girls how does the old radio and other appliances look like. Heidi was also kind enough to show the girls the farm and they have really loved it.
