Fox Glaciers was a high point in our Kiwi journey! We were impressed with its natural beauty and majestic scenery. The Fox Glacier Lodge played a key role in ensuring us a pleasant and relaxing experience in one of the South Island’s most attractive places. We highly recommend Fox Glacier Lodge to those who plan to spend a few days in exploring the fantastic Fox Glaciers / Joseph Glaciers’ many attractions. Fox Glacier is very small, just a few motels and a couple of eateries, but is a good base for seeing the sights e.g. Fox Glacier and Lake Matheson. Need a car. The townsite of Fox Glacier is small, but with a good variety of eating places, including the pub. The glacier itself has retreated significantly since I was last there almost 40 years ago. You can also get good views of the mountains in the Westland Tai Poutini National Park by driving about 10km from the townsite along a dirt track (Cook Flat Road).Guest review bySimonAustralia - 10.0

Absolutely amazing location to visit, a must see, the rain forest is stunning and opens up to the huge mountains and magnificent glacier. The 40 minute walk is perfect, full of stunning rain forest and sounds of birds, opens up to glorious views of the glacier.Guest review byGregAustralia - 10.0

Fox Glacier is a lovely, small town and I highly recommend it. The people are friendly, and the area is beautiful. The walk around Lake Matheson was gorgeous, and the Glacier viewpoints are well worth seeing - make sure you take the Moraine Track on the way, winding through absolutely breathtaking rainforest. Probably my favourite place we visited on the west coast. Food is expensive due to how isolated it is, but you'll be so happy to be there it's worth it for supporting the local businesses.Guest review byTomUnited Kingdom

The room upstairs was as pictured and captured beautiful light in the daytime. The staff are very friendly. Highly reccommend joining the complimentary glow worm tour at night in the local forest - it was a gentle walk, interesting and unique. Being able to cook ourselves breakfast in the communal kitchen was a plus - with the ability to make tea, coffee etc. all day too. Free parking and easy walk to town centre for food.
