.... just great. The atmosphere in the hotel - a woww from checking to checkout! Great support from the friendly receptionists - big support on booking tours. The friendly spirit from the hotel was reflected from the entire stuff as well from the guests. We had a fantastic time - unfortunately too short. Big ❤ to the base camp family.

The location couldn’t be better and the breakfast was quite good / plentiful. Rooms can be tight but they are very comfortable and practical (you will find wall hooks to hang coats and all your winter attire) They lend you slippers to walk around the hotel if you didn't bring yours and help you out with booking taxis or other requirements.

Location. It is a little bit far from the town, but very close to 'wilderness' (it is near 'polar bear' sign). Eveything else also is perfect.

The food on offer in restaurants is incredible.

The food on offer in restaurants is incredible. Try something new or stick to an old favourite like fish and chips. Everything is easy to get to all walking distance So many activities to try, Coal Mine 3, ATV tour outside the settlement of town, Northern most brewery visit and tasting. Experience the place for what it is, awesome, incredible and unique place on the planet. Try as much food as you can.

Longyearbyen is unique.

Longyearbyen is unique. It is a small settlement up in the Arctic in a stark but beautiful landscape. It is very different to other places I have visited. We stayed for 4 nights and included a couple of trips on 2 of the 3 full days we spent there. It was a bonus for us that on the third day, 14th August 2025, it happened to be the 100 year anniversary of Norway's sovereignty over Svalbard. The town is very quiet and there are not many bars and restaurants but we were very happy to find the Karlsberger pub and it's sister restaurant opposite. These are 2 establishments which are popular with the local residents and are very lively and friendly with great food and drinks. The staff are very friendly and helpful. It is very easy to walk around Longyearbyen with museums and old mines to visit or you can walk down to the shore and see what wildlife turns up.

I liked the variety of shops and restaurant offerings.

I liked the variety of shops and restaurant offerings. Everything was in walking distance from each other. Depending upon your interests there seemed to be many different kinds of activities to do. I did the Mine 3 Tour and the Svalbard Husky Dogs on Wheels activity. Both I thought were unique experiences and worthwhile. The impression that I got was that there is even a lot more to do during the winter months. Enjoyed eating nice meals at Mary-Ann’s Polarrig and Radisson Blue’s restaurants.

Longyearbyen is unlike any other place I've been.

Longyearbyen is unlike any other place I've been. I went during polar night, and dark season is an interesting experience when neither the Sun or Moon ever rise. Make sure to visit the museum, the Nordover gallery, and the brewery, and stop for coffee in Café Huskies. The cold is surprisingly manageable as long as you wear the right clothing. Make sure you layer up properly, and bring a good pair of gloves and some warm boots – walking is the easiest way to get around.

Longyearbyen seems to be a magnet for humans who find adventure in loving other humans. Nobody is "From" Longyearbyen. But those who venture there become instant family. Not everyone should even consider visiting. Those who will already know who you are, as you read this. Longyearbyen is not for the faint of heart, nor the shallow of spirit. RD

The bus stop is right in front of the hotel. Bathroom is big and well equipped. The wifi is very fast. The staff is very nice and helpful. I did love the breakfast and the mood of the restaurant with cute decorations with the animal figures. The location is in the center of Longyearbyen so you can visit some places on foot like museum, shopping street and see shore. I absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone.

A lovely hotel, cosy, friendly and with a brilliant location - close to Tourist Information, great restaurants and souvenir shops, centrally located for most everything you'll need in town! Room itself was a great size, comfortable, loved the big chairs and large windows - perfect for watching snow fall across the mountains - felt very romantic! Would definitely stay here again!

This is 10/10 experience! Extremely friendly staff, sparkling clean premises with all necessary (and 'nice-to-have') facilities in the bathroom, kitchen and common areas, convenient check-in/check-out. Way better experience than 4* hotel in the same town. I hope this place will be available during my next stay in Longyearbyen!
