I have been to Colima many times, first trip 1990. Not really promoted as a tourist destination, but many things to do. Beaches not far away, mountains close by. A beautiful volcano overlooks the city. The dollar goes a long way in this area. Not much English is spoken, but enough to get by. Colima was a great place to visit. But we booked the hotel through Bookings.com Price details 2 rooms Price MXN 1,798.22 When we got there they charged us 2175. Pesos. Colima overall is a great place to visit, you can go the the beaches along the coast. Inland has many excellent restaurants, keep in mind you are not going to a Ruth Chris type of restaurants. Ever since I first visited friends I originally met in California, I have been in love with Colima. It's not a tourist trap, so life just seems more genuine. The Cathedral was elevated to a Minor Basílica due to the people's devotion to Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. The city parks are many and vibrant. My favorite time is December when they convert into cultural markets. The museums are lovely and quite informative. Culture is thriving thanks to the efforts of the University of Colima. Comala, a Pueblo Mágico is a definite stop as is a trip to see the volcano. The landscape is lush and beautiful and the beaches are amazing! Head to Playa la Boquita for a spectacular experience. Colima has plenty to offer, many small towns on the outskirts. It offers plenty of excellent food throughout the city. There are a couple of breweries that are excellent. The beach (Manzanillo) is approximately 45 minutes away from downtown Colima and has some well known beaches and hotels.Guest review byPaulUnited States
