Great Location with close proximity to the beach. Supermarkets and restaurants close by. The apartment itself is very spacious and is bigger than expected - unfortunately we only stayed for one night but you could spend easily a few weeks there! Also Space for car parking available. The Host is very Friendly, Always helpful and just a great guy! We forgot something in the apartment and it was no issue to Go back and look for it. We can highly recommend this cozy apartment!

The rooms are in individual chalet style buildings set in pleasant established shady gardens. The room was comfortable and clean. The restaurant in the main house was lovely and only a few metres from the rooms. We enjoyed the outside covered terrace and the atmosphere was very relaxed and the food and service were good. Sitting by the pool in the gardens was very pleasant. The proximity to the airport makes this a great place to stay particularly if you have an early flight as we did or if you arrive in the afternoon and are looking for a night stop. We would happily stay again.

    The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than...

    The town offers a more authentically local atmosphere than beach resorts, although admittedly there is no beach on this part of the Mauritian coast, so the area attracts a different kind of traveller. It is a rather run-down place but has considerable charm. The waterfront is a lovely (if windy) area to stroll around and the town has some interesting historical attractions - also a few kilometres away, in Vieux Grand Port, the site of the first landing on the island (by the Dutch, in 1598). One matter to be aware of concerns going out for dinner in the town. There are plenty of restaurants in the central area, many of them very welcoming and with very good food, however: - the streets are very poorly lit after dark, resulting in considerable stretches where a torch/phone light is useful; - most streets have no pavements, or very uneven/poor quality pavements where they do exist, so you have to walk in the road - watch your step and beware traffic that rushes past, often very suddenly (however, the local drivers are good at swerving to avoid pedestrians)! - unnervingly, there are large numbers of dogs roaming around on the streets - this seems to be the case all over Mauritius, even in the capital, albeit to a lesser extent. By day they are very placid and tend to shy away from people, but after dark they are often uncomfortably territorial and can be aggressive.

    Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront.

    Mahébourg has a beautiful waterfront. I prefer the modern part of the city versus the downtown area which has narrower streets. Historical Mahébourg Museum is worth visiting. Don’t forget the delicious Biscuits Manioc!

    A lovely, underrated town in the less touristy South.

    A lovely, underrated town in the less touristy South. We only spent one day there, basically to shorten the trip to the airport the next morning, but we discovered several little gems. My one complaint - it could do with some live sega music. We will definitely spend a few more days there on our next trip.

    The city is not beautiful.

    The city is not beautiful. It is good for accomodation and making trips from the base. There is no nice bar where to go for a drink during evening. There are some good restaurants and nice market. I would recommend to stay in Blue Bay if you can find affordable accomodation there.

    Mahebourg is the downtown of Mauritius, do not stay there unless you wanna sleep for a night so you can be closer to the airport because it is closer to the airport, otherwise the north side is the best for accommodation.

    Mahebourg is not at all touristy.

    Mahebourg is not at all touristy. You get A true taste of island life. The eateries are mainly visited by locals with the odd tourist. They're cheap & always delicious. I must recommend Chez Marilyn. Blue Bay is a short drive from town & well worth a visit! We stayed for 7 nights which was a few days too long, maybe 4 or 5 nights is enough.

    The host was really great, he was extremely helpful and made our experience so lovely. He did airport transfer for us, and transported us around to the places we wanted to go to Mahebourg. He really went out of his way for us, thank you Feyzal! The Wi-Fi was good and the place was clean. The view was nice from our room as well. If you go here, check out Le Bistrot nearby, it’s a lovely restaurant, food is good and the people are very friendly.

    We liked the convenient location – the hotel is close to the airport. The street is very quiet, making it a peaceful place to stay. A large supermarket is within walking distance, which was very convenient. The place was clean and well-organized, with two rooms: a living room and a bedroom. The shower worked fine with no issues. The kitchen was fully equipped, and we had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.
