Ohrid is a beautiful old city with many churches and sites to visit. Many unique jewelry shops and excellent restaurants. Ohrid lake is amazing with clean and transparent water up to 10 m in depth. Many possibilities to take boats, make excursions, go to other places at the lake and beaches. In summer there is Ohrid Summer Festival with theater performances and concerts performed outdoors and in ancient churches. It is a lovely old town with many old churches and the lake which is one of the oldest natural lakes in Europe. There are a lot of hotels and villas you can stay in which are reasonably priced. It was the most touristy place we had been in for a while - but we enjoyed that! We did the small boat day trip and enjoyed 6 hours visiting the sites around the lake and some time swimming in the lake by the monastery. We also hiked to the top of Magaro Peak- quite a challenge but rewarding with spectacular views at the top. 2 hours up, 2 hours down. Recommend.Guest review byGailSpain - 8.0

Nice and affordable holiday town. Locals are friendly. Lively place during the summer festival. Stayed 4 nights in the center, too long for the center only but should be long enough if you travel to the surrounding areas. What an amazing mix of history, nature, culture, family love, and nighttime activity. Liquid in Old Town was my favorite morning starting spot with a front deck with bean bag chairs and lake access. The fresh ciabatta sandwiches were a summer treat. Early evening pop/jazz duo of piano and bass was a perfect soul-soothing setting right on the lake. Walking daily on the promenade. The beach is amazing, especially in the morning when it is completely empty and quiet.
