The hospitality and the gorgeous setting were my two favorite aspects of the Riad Jnane Imlil and the village of Imlil. The surroundings are majestic and the staff of the riad were so very warm. The food was delicious and convenient (breakfast was included, and you can purchase dinner and eat in the building). I was not feeling well from before I arrived in Imlil, and still it was a beautiful place to rest in. We had planned to do a full-day trek and have lunch with a Berber family in their home, but had to cancel due to my illness. Still, we walked around a bit in the village and that was so very pleasant. The riad had a pool and has beautiful terraces and balconies to enjoy the gorgeous views from. Imlil is idyllic with breathtaking views immersed in the Atlas Mountains. Lots of wonderful hikes, rivers, hotels set in the mountains, beautiful little town with restaurants, gift shops & lots of Moroccan culture. Just over an hour from Marrakesh. I had a wonderful time in Git Mazzik. It was a truly traditional journey filled with authentic experiences and delicious local food, they cooked it for you on demand! Our overnight stay here was the highlight of our trip to Morocco! It’s truly a unique and beautiful experience. The location and views by themselves are breathtaking but Lahcen and his family go above and beyond with their kindness and generous hospitality to make everything about the stay one you’ll never forget. All the food was exceptional, and it was no problem us both being vegan. We had a very fun cooking lesson with the family in the evening, including being surprised with a couple of beautiful traditional Berber outfits. The next morning, after a breakfast watching the sunrise we were given directions for a pretty walk through the village and orchards to the waterfall before being met back in Imlil with our luggage for the taxi back. If you want an amazing trip to Morocco then staying at the Authentic Toubkal Lodge is a must. There are also a couple of very cute cats! In a hotel, you would rarely interact with other travellers, but here it feels like everyone is staying in a big family home, so lots of chatter which was nice. The dinner is great and it was the best tagine we’ve had in Morocco by far! Must try and the owners create a nice candlelit atmosphere for dinner. You won’t be disappointed! The weather was mixed whilst we were there but the hotel set up meant we were able to be cosy by the wood burning stove in the evening and then get out on the terrace when the sun came out.
