A gem of a place surrounded by beautiful gardens, offering us peace, relaxation & superb food all of a high quality. From the moment we arrived and were led into the tastefully decorated reception, dining area & offered a cooling coconut drink we found the attention to detail & service was exceptional especially from Prasanna who looked after us so well. Walking around the gardens, we admired the many fruit trees, their organic vegetable garden, and the lovely spa area was a haven of peace, where we enjoyed some Ayurvedic massages. The food choice was varied, excellent and always some delicious fruits for breakfast from their gardens like 'Soursap' It was a memorable visit. (Nearby just outside Weeraketiya was the ancient Mulgirigala Raja Maha Temple, well worth the climb to see the sunset)

Our stay at the Grand Samudra Hotel was phenomenal to say the least. Meeting the incredible staff, Momo, Lahiru and Saman (and the sweetest puppy Kiki), made our entire trip to Sri Lanka so incredible. We felt like family at home, so comfortable, and taken care of - and the views from our room nestled in the most beautiful beach paradise were heavenly. We stayed for 4 nights and would certainly return! Overall a fantastic hotel. Hotel setting is idyllic with amazing pool to lounge around and only 10 metres from the beach - but privacy maintained by palm trees which also provide some much needed shade! Free bodyboards to borrow should you fancy some water-sports which we used everyday :) Only 10 rooms, so very personal (and fantastic) service and small hotel feel which was fab. Felt very secure. Hotel bar located upstairs above the main restaurant is a nice spot for pre dinner cocktails - which were great. Downstairs, right next to the pool is the restaurant which serves fantastic food - the menu is rotated every day for lunch and dinner, so plenty of variety if staying for a few days. Breakfast also very good, and the best coffee we had in Sri Lanka! Everything is cooked fresh to order, but this does mean some meals took a while to arrive particularly at breakfast (our only recommended area of improvement for the hotel)! We intended to do a few day trips, but the hotel was so good we ended up only venturing out for one evening. We hope to return!

A very welcoming reception by the hosts after a rather long trip (26 h). The staff, from the extremely kind Tila and Santa to the waiters and kitchen personnel, gave a golden feel to our stay. WIFI was good, food was very good, especially the tuna and the breakfast, the pool was very clean holding around 30 degrees and the beach was fantastic for early morning walks. The hosts are offering all kinds of excursions but we intended to just chill out by the pool and onto the beach at their private sun chairs. However, they easily booked a car for us to get back to the airport, which was very convenient. The evenings at dusk was a highlight from our balcony for spotting the wildlife. There are only four villas so it never feels cramped, no need for reserving a sunbed early in the morning :) Thanks again for a memorable (short) vacation!

If you find it available, dont miss the opportunity to stay here. The accomodation has great location, 110% clean and most rooms are new with nice views. The most important thing though why we really enjoyed our stay in Tangalle was the hospitallity of our hosts. All family is so positive and friendly. They helped us discover the area visiting the best beaches. They also offer tuk tuk services in fair prices (definitely cheaper than all other tuk tuk we experienced). Thank you so much for hosting us and hopefully we visit again :))ξ

Breakfast was lovely. Enjoyed kayaking on the lagoon. Staff were very attentive and kind. Room was immaculately clean. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Awesome place overlooking a very broad and calm beach. Beautiful garden and big spacious rooms with air conditioning. We liked everything about our stay: location, breakfasts and tips from the owner about what to do in the neighborhood. You can go bird watching, go chill and swim in a reef- protected Harmony Beach. Overall amazing!
