Nice place to stay when visiting Yala park. Good breakfast. If you seems it's not enough, the manager suggests the additions according to you or your kids tastes. The swimming pool area is clean and convenient. Helping and friendly staff is helping you with payments, Yala tours booking and any advice for comfortable staying.

Lovely spot to relax on the terrace after a hot day, we had a really good night's sleep and the most delicious rice and curry. It's a good starting point for a safari and you'll get all the help you need from here. The staff is super friendly and helpful!

Gem of a place. As mentioned in other reviews the rooms are basic BUT comfortable and clean. For the price they are more than perfect. The setting itself was wonderful - right by the lake, surrounded by wildlife. In the evening, the host took us by tuktuk/scooter for a free tour of the lakes where we saw varans, bats, many birds including two beautiful owls !, and even a (harmless) snake. I booked my Yala safari with the host the day before and we could tell that the driver was more experienced than others. We saw all the wildlife one could see in Yala - leopards, crocodiles, varans, many birds, elephants, mongooses and even a sloth bear ! Perfect place, I'm happy I choose it.

Word cannot express how grateful we are to Nalin and Isharni for welcoming us into their home during Sinhalese New Year. Staying at Black Panther Yala was the absolute highlight of our two weeks in Sri Lanka. It was such a special weekend where we learnt/ate traditional food (e.g. oil cake), participated in the rituals and traditions and met the neighbours and relatives. The room was comfortable and the food delicious. Dinner included is such a rare treat. The location is lovely, set next to the wetlands. You can borrow bike and ride around the area. We did a safari through a driver that our host recommended and it was amazing. I would highly recommend Black Panther to anyone!

Beautiful place, well maintained grounds. Comfortable lakefront homes with a lovely porch with a beautiful view of the lake. Very caring and attentive host and staff. The breakfast is superb, the most delicious coconut pancakes. We also ordered dinner which was served to us on the veranda, the food was great and so was the service. I recommend this place!

The owner would give it an 11 out of 10 if he could. The amount of heart he put into our stay, showing us the nearest area (few hours) and finally taking us to a religious festival with his family is worth every penny. This was probably my best stay ever - highly recommended if you want to understand local life and the beauty of harmony.

An exceptional welcome from the very friendly and helpful staff. We had a lovely room that lead on to the balcony with wonderful views of the lake. The setting of the hotel was beautiful and really peaceful. The hotel also organised our Yala safari, which was excellent. Just wish we had time spend a few days there

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean, which made my stay extremely comfortable. Great location close to Yala Safari. However, the highlight of the entire experience was the owner. She was incredibly helpful, always ready to assist with anything I needed. I would definitely recommend this place:)

It's perfectly located for Yala National Park safaris, offering easy access to incredible wildlife encounters. Beyond the safaris, the town itself has a calm, local vibe with beautiful lakes and ancient temples to discover. You'll find plenty of local restaurants and shops, making it easy to enjoy authentic Sri Lankan experiences. It's a great spot for both adventure and relaxation, and I highly recommend spending some time here!

    The owner of Serenity lake advices us to visit Yala safari, Sithul pawwa magul viharaya and sithul pawwa a super history with beautiful scenery, which we did and we're very grateful for his advice. We returned to the serenity lake to have lunch before heading off. Requested for a village kind of lunch with the local veggies and it was served on a lotus leaf... The most delicious meal it was. We had lunch at Reds and at the Serenity lake .

    The location is excellent and the resort is real value for money . The food was excellent . The rooms were nice . The toiletries in the bathrooms needs to improve . The bathroom needs exhaust fans as it can get quite stuffy . The resort manager Mr Upal is a nice friendly bloke and is exceptional in his service . Overall a very pleasant experience .

    This is a great location to stay if you want to visit the national parks and My Village will organise safaris to the four parks in the area either a half or full day. The local town is not a tourist town but it's great to wander around looking in the local shops.

    We were there the first time for safari.

    We were there the first time for safari. We had a tour to the Buddha by the sea…amazing. This time we were passing through on our way to Ella. We ate at Red Pizza which was just as good second time round.

    Was in Tissamaharama for Yala Safari, had booked the early...

    Was in Tissamaharama for Yala Safari, had booked the early morning Safari. Disappointed with the Safari as there were very few animals except.for.peacocks and spotted dear. Later into the ride our jeep driver and guide revealed we had entered through block 5 of the Safari and most the animals(Leopard, Bears) mostly are sighted in block 1 and 2. Block 1 and 2 were closed that day, maybe just our luck. So I guess check, with the Safari organizer before booking your safari as it quite expensive. Basically disappointed ☹️

    Our best stay in Sri Lanka! From the moment we arrived the staff were so helpful. We were able to book our safari through them to Yala. The safari was so good as the driver made sure we got to see Leopards and many other animals. We also got given a lovely takeaway breakfast from the hotel as we had to leave very early. The hotel and room were both Safari/Sri Lankan style with a modern twist. The pool area is very clean and stylish. Really enjoyed our stay!

    Indika was extremely friendly and helpful. But what we really found exeptional was his cooking. Extraordinary! What else was fabulous, was the bathroom; it was the best we ever had in sri lanka. It was so nice that we could get two bicycles to get to know the environment. Moreover, the room design was very appealing and the service was like in a 5 Star hotel, e.g. with candle light and every detail....

    The most helpful and kindest owner. Arranged a safari at Yala National Park through the hotel which was great. The owner provided free coffee and smoothies. Helped us to arrange onward journey. The room itself was lovely. One of the cleanest we have stayed in in Sri Lanka. Nice bathroom with a good shower and hot water. Nice balcony. Really comfy bed.

    We have been cycling around Sri Lanka for 2 weeks and this has been the best hotel so far. Nice and comfortable room, very enjoyable pool, good food for lunch and dinner and a very pleasant staff. Peacefull setting. We booked our safari with them and our driver was very professional. And the breakfast!!! See the picture.

    Actually this is a wonderful resort. Situated in middle of a beautiful village. But close to the city also. Hotel's view is very beautiful. Hotel staff treated us very kindly & friendly. Sri lankan food of this hotel is very tasty. The yala safari also very nice wich they arranged.
