This villa is a rare find! We loved the private pool, room was spacious and clean, beautiful peaceful location and the staff were kind and friendly. They were very kind to our 4yr old son. Lalith was especially great, his English is good and nothing was too much trouble. The breakfast was delicious and a good variety to choose from. The free tuk tuk to Mirissa each day is also great.

We stayed for a couple of nights, and all I can say is, just wow! We booked the honeymoon room with the outdoor shower and bathtub, and it was absolutely beautiful. The villa itself looks amazing, super clean, and the surrounding garden is a pure oasis of peace. You can really see how much work and passion the owners put into making their guests’ stay unforgettable. For example, they recommended and arranged a round trip to see the most beautiful places in Sri Lanka and even organized a scooter rental that was ready for us upon arrival. We also wanted to try surfing, and the owners recommended Ama Surfing School—it was definitely worth it, such a great group of people! Overall, staying at Villa Wellia was a unique experience. Thanks, Sami and Santa!

My recent stay at Charming Dark Lodge in River was nothing short of exceptional, marking it as the best homestay experience I have ever encountered. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth and hospitality that exceeded all expectations. The highlight of our stay was undeniably our incredible host, who spared no effort in ensuring our comfort and satisfaction. From delicious lunches and dinners to delightful surprises and the most mouth-watering fish barbecue - probably the best meal I have had in the two months I have been in Sri Lanka. Beyond the culinary delights, our room was a sanctuary of comfort and style. Immaculately clean, equipped with a kitchen containing everything one could possibly need, and beautifully built and decorated. Originally intending to stay for four nights, we found ourselves captivated by the charm of Charming Dark Lodge, extending our stay to twelve nights. Departing was bittersweet, as we had grown attached to the unparalleled hospitality and the tranquil ambiance of our temporary home. A particularly memorable moment was celebrating my birthday during our stay. Our host went above and beyond to ensure it was an unforgettable occasion, adding a personal touch that truly made me feel special. Without a doubt, if I ever find myself in Sri Lanka again, Charming Dark Lodge will be my first choice for accommodation. Its unmatched hospitality, and inviting ambiance have left an indelible mark on my travel memories. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a truly exceptional homestay experience in Sri Lanka.

This was truly a hidden gem in Matara. The place is super clean and nice, the kind hosts were very helpful and supportive. This place had fully equipped kitchen (Microwave, Hot Plate, Electric Kettle, Juice Maker, Refrigerator and all the kitchen equipment you could ever want), There were two rooms which was super clean. Also this place had an Electric iron and there were Washing machine (we didn't use the washing machine) although the place is bit far from town, It is in close proximity to Polhena beach, which is a very beautiful beach. My first impression and stay at the place is not 10 out of 10, but 100 out of 10 ❤️. Highly recommend place and will definitely visit again.
