Great views. Great trip. Only disappointment is the blue "lake" in Nakadake Crater. All the pictures show the "lake" while to my understanding it was destroyed during the 2016 earthquake. It was what drawn my attention to this location to begin with, so it was disappointing not seeing it. The owners are both very kind and went out of their way to make my stay as nice as possible. You can tell that they really care about this place! Aso station (startpoint for the tour bus) can be reached in around 20 mins with bus or train. At night it is quiet and even in the summer surprisingly cool. We arrived about 00-00 and still met a very nice man who helped us to get the keys and showed the rooms, etc. Saunas there are really great and you feel like a Samurai in Rekan and Sauna. Big parking lots and property. I booked with meals options so if you don’t wanna to go out, food is there. Onsen is one of the facilities which is big. Relax when you back from daily activities.
