Amazing quiet hotel with exceptional restaurant and top quality service. This place was our base for exploring the Salento, and it served that purpose well. The staff was really nice, we did a tour of the local olive oil mill with them (which gives the resort its name) which we absolutely recommend. There's plenty of space both in the rooms as well as the grounds, and it's very quiet, perfect to enjoy either the pool or evening dinners and drinks at the wine bar. The food in the restaurant was really delicious, and they offer local typical dishes and wines. There are plenty of really good beaches less than a 30 minute drive from the place or you can just enjoy the pool if you prefer. We recommend driving around as the local village (Uggiano la Chiesa) doesn't have a lot to offer apart from nice locals. Mulino a Vento is a gem!

Very clean and cozy apartment. The host was very kind. There was a coffee machine in the apartment and we had our morning coffee in the unique courtyard - actually because of the pictures of the courtyard we chose this place and it turned out really lovely. As we were at the end of the season and there were no other guests the terrace, the garden were all to ourselves and we fully enjoyed this amazing experience. Breakfast is simple and served in the nearby cafe - good coffee and a warm, freshly baked croissant

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here and found it to be exceptionally good value for money. The owner is incredibly helpful and friendly, and gave us all sorts of suggestions, from where to go to the beach to where to eat in the evenings. The room itself was fairly small but had everything we needed: ample wardrobe space, hangers, mini fridge, hair dryer, a good shower etc. The tv was also a very decent size. We particularly liked the breakfast, which included at least two different homemade cakes each morning, fresh croissants, fresh fruit, cereal and yogurt, as well as a couple of savoury options too. The location is convenient and, by car, you can reach plenty of sea locations and little towns in a fairly short time. Otranto was also very close by. The outdoor are is extremely well cared for and the pool is gorgeous.

Wow. Where shall I start? I almost want to keep this hidden gem for myself... 🤓 But they deserve a moment of appreciation, as a thank you for such experience. Out of all bookings that I've made in my life, this has to be the most complete and pleasant stay ever. Everything was super clean, comfortable and quiet... And the family running this property is what you can only dream of for a host. Everything shines... But if there's one aspect that I have to highlight - it's cleanliness. As a 33-year-old woman traveling alone, I was looking for a place that felt both safe and inspiring – and I couldn’t have chosen better than Palazzo Vigilarium – Boutique Rooms – Rooftop & Arts Hotel. The spacious design rooms with their high ceilings and breathtaking views were truly a dream. Breakfast was healthy, fresh, and delicious, and the homemade dishes were outstanding. On the rooftop terrace, I enjoyed a magical view along with aperitivo and bruschetta prepared with Nonna’s homemade bread – a truly authentic touch. What made my stay truly unforgettable, however, was the extraordinary service. The two brothers who run this family hotel pour their hearts and passion into everything they do. They shared personal travel tips, helped me with reservations, and were even there to welcome me when I arrived very late at night, kindly carrying my luggage all the way to the car upon departure. Thank you so much for this exceptional time – it was truly perfect, and I would return without hesitation.

    Uggiano la Chiesa feels a little like the Highlands of...

    Uggiano la Chiesa feels a little like the Highlands of Scotland - beautiful, friendly and accommodating locals, lovely places to eat and very little public transport! However, taxis are available and the locals are happy to phone on your behalf to help you book one. There was a car rally the day of the wedding too which was exciting to see. 10/10 would recommend visiting the restaurant Matisse. The head waiter Alfriedo is a lovely, incredibly helpful and friendly man who will make you feel very welcome and happily translate the Italian menu for you. The more family-oriented restaurant Skafè is also worth a visit - especially for the metre-long pizza! Chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena is easily one of the most beautiful churches I have ever visited. I was delighted to sing in it for my friend's wedding. I think Uggiano la Chiesa is a good base to have if you are able to travel to surrounding areas as it's mostly quiet and non-touristy.

    Cinzia met us in reception with 2 other ladies. They were so helpful and kind. They explained everything to us relating to facilities, area and beaches and restaurants. They were accessible on whatsapp and were so attentive and friendly! The apartment was clean and bright and the kitchen was well equipped. A short walk to the village and 10mins by car to Otranto. Loved the restaurant Skafe in Uggiano la Chiesa...definitely worth a visit! Pool was perfect temperature and sunloungers confortable.

    The owners were welcoming and kind. They gave us lots of info and suggestions on what to do or where to go to the seaside. The continental breakfast was good with healthy selections and delicious handmade cakes. Despite the fact that the room wasn't esthetically appealing, it was spacious and clean, the 2 double beds were comfortable, and we had all we needed. Uggiano la Chiesa is a quiet and small village, about 8km from Otranto. You can easily park the car just outside the gate of the house.

    Quiet and sophisticated. Located within walking distance of Uggiano la Chiesa. Such a relaxing a beautiful place. Breakfast and espresso are served each morning, and you can either relax and read by the pool or visit the magnificent nearby towns and swim up and down the coast. Nearby Lecce was a baroque marvel. Fabrizio the host is so welcoming and helpful. We loved it. Highly recommended for those seeking peace and tranquillity.

    My rating is beyond excellent. The hosts were a perfect example of kindness and the warm Italian family atmosphere. If I ever come back, it will be for their generosity. The hotel is extremely comfortable, spotlessly clean, and has a good location close to locale restaurants and the centre. My kids was too happy, in short if I had known this before, I would have spent my entire vacation here.
