I've been to Rome many times and also lived there for a while. Obviously, coming back there to visit friends, I do love Rome. I didn't realize how hot august is. That was a bit harsh... however, I do recommend Rome, always... perhaps in a bit cooler weather. Visit Rome...enjoy the beauty and the food!!

Rome was wonderful! So easy to get around. Everyone was warm and friendly. My tip is to not try and pack too much into one day as you will be doing a lot of walking. Also, I found using a paper map much more useful than using Google maps and will get you to your destination faster as it shows the shortcuts. I found it better to allow an extra 30 minutes to get to your destination to account for any queues you may encounter.

Rome is my favorite city, but I won't have to go back for awhile. We spent 10 days there and saw everything we wanted to see. It is a challenging city for the mobility impaired and people who can't breathe around cigarette smoke. This visit was more challenging than all my prior visits in that it was harder to find little mom and pop hole-in-the-walls with excellent food and reasonable charges for same. One of my most cherished elements of Rome has always been the food and wine, but we were plagued with too many tourist trap restaurants with over-inflated reviews and prices. But I already knew that we were there at the worst possible time, when 4 out of 4 Michelin eateries we tried were closed for vacation. (Avoid August!) Tip: if you loved the Borghesi Gallery, check out the Colonna gallery. That was a real treat.

    Very nice city.

Very nice city. You can find here the ancient Rome and the core of the christening. Most of the churches can visited free. The restaurants are amazing, if you want to want a delicious Italian food. The public transport is fine. The underground is good, but on the buses sometimes show the different itinerary then the bus's number.

I initially booked Hotel Labelle in Rome for one night, but after experiencing their outstanding hospitality, I decided to stay one more night on my way back from touring Italy. The staff was incredibly welcoming and helpful, making me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. Located in the heart of the city, the hotel offers easy access to major sites and is's very clean. I highly recommend Hotel Labelle for anyone looking for a comfortable and convenient stay in Rome.

    - lovely staff (Alberto is great, very helpful and nice) - location is close to train station (easy to get to/from airport) and metro (easy to get to/from most attractions in Rome, and the Termini train station if you plan on visiting other cities in Italy), and a short walk to Vatican - breakfast (yes, it is from the nearby La Siciliana cafe, and yes it is 1 croissant and coffee) is the BEST, it's so good we even went there for things other than breakfast

Friendly and helpful reception staff. Surprising fluffy and tasty croissants (for Italy) during breakfast. The location was very good, just across the US embassy and many 5* hotels - fairly easy to reach, away from the tourist noise but still reasonable distance to all key areas in Rome. Much appreciated that they could book us a hire car to take us to the airport.
